Hi Guys, I don't normally post, but wanted to offer some advice. I am a Reablement Assistant for my local council/ Adult social services. My job is to visit people at home after they have been in hospital after surgery, falls, stroke ect. We visit for a couple of weeks up to 4 times a day, to assess/give personal care, and suggest different ways to help them manage independently again, or assess whether they need ongoing long term care. I am 60 and my husband is 64, my DD and GC live with us also. I am classed as a frontline worker, and as such, I am being extremely careful, when I go to each persons house, I use antibac gel, before entering, I wash my hands and put disposable gloves and apron on. I don't go to close to to the person unless I am helping them carry out personal care. At the end of my visit, I dispose of my gloves and apron into a bag, then their bin. I wash my hands again. before getting in my car I use antibac gel on my hands.
When I arrive home, I clean my steering wheel, handles and gear stick with antibac wipes. I leave my fleece and bag in another bag in my boot. I take my shoes off at the front door and place in a bag, and i strip off in my hallway, roll my uniform up and put in the washing machine immediately. I shower and dress. I don't think you need to go to those extremes, but frequent hand washing and cleaning door handles, switches, taps is most important. Try not to touch your face or mouth when out.. When you go shopping, if you have your car, and can't get antibac gel, take a flask of hot water some handwash soap and a towel. wash your hands when you return to your care.
Wearing masks won't stop you getting the virus, but it will help to stop you spreading it by keeping your cough contained. I am looking forward to the summer, hopefully we will be past the worst. Take care everyone, and try to keep watching the news to a minimum.
