Now I know the world has gone mad. I have just seen a picture of a queue a mile long, which started forming at 5 a.m. Was it for a vaccine guaranteed to cure this dreadful virus? No, it was for IKEA!! I'm speechless.

I've just been reading that the police have had to get involved to try and keep some order in the Macdonald's queues!!

My grandson works at McD's. He will be absolutely exhausted when he finishes at 10 tonight. Long queues here in Yorkshire. Police in attendance.

Just crazy behaviour.

Only ever been there once as my daughter wanted something that wouldn't have fitted in her car so we took mine. We bought a huge bookcase that just squeezed into my estate car and then spent the rest of the day building it back in her flat! I did buy a neck pillow too which I wouldn't be without, and a few kitchen bits I've never used! I certainly wouldn't queue to get in there!

Same here bongo ?
Have to admit.....I have never set foot in an Ikea ( or ordered from them online) what’s so marvellous about it that’s worth queuing for hours to get??

This evening finally managed to escape a very long lane of traffic waiting to turn right normally one or two cars this horrendous wait was due to McDonald’s drive through reopening are people that desperate for a burger and fries?

Puzzler61 Wed 03-Jun-20 20:46:29

Near here is a drive thru K.F.C. , very close to the city’s hospital. I drove past on Monday evening and the queue for KFC snaked all along a road leading into the parking area . In the queue were 3 ambulances. I wondered if it was their patients who were desperate for fried chicken, or if it’s the usual tea for the paramedics.

what on earth do you need from ikea that you would have to queue for it. Some people just queue for anything.

MissAdventure Wed 03-Jun-20 21:22:28

I think some people really flounder when they can't stick to their routines.

They feel a compulsion to do something "normal" to restore their equilibrium.

The same thing is happening at McDonalds I just don't get people I for one will not be queuing up for any of them.

My DH and I are great fans of a group called Lancashire Hotpot". They do a brilliant song called "I fear Ikea". It's brilliant. If I was really clever I would post a link for it, but you can find it on Youtube. It is certainly worth a listen . ????????

It must be their sooooo yummy, and nutritious meat balls (sarcasm), leading that queue.

Lizbethann55 Thu 04-Jun-20 11:38:32

miss adventure thank you so much!!! Did you look it up, or had you heard of them? I love their songs!! We should have been going to see them at the Lowry in a couple of weeks but it has been cancelled til next year. I particularly like "chippy tea" and" the resignation song" ??????

Saggi Thu 04-Jun-20 14:12:13

I can answer Hetty...my daughter had a one week time slot last year to move herself and her kids into a new home. It took two cars and one trip to ikea to kit out an empty house into a home ...’simples’.

Saggi Thu 04-Jun-20 14:13:22

..... and we stopped for lunch and had their magnificent ( bar none) meatballs...!

Lilypops Thu 04-Jun-20 14:15:13

Is there anything in Ikea that is so desperately needed that you would queue for hours in blazing sun. I can’t think of one !

MissAdventure Thu 04-Jun-20 15:06:37

lisbethann
My ex introduced me to their music, and I had forgotten up until you mentioned them.

I like chippy tea as well. smile

IKEA, dont mention it, we live in Sweden and have two IKEA places nearby, my Husband loves to go there and buys mostly things he doesnt need, I stay at home and am quite happy. Why anyone in their right mind would want to actually QUEUE to get in I cant imagine.
Another thing, every house you go into here is like an IKEA showroom, no imagination at all.

MissAdventure Fri 05-Jun-20 22:48:16

The last couple of times we went were rather fraught, which ended up with me phoning customer services.
Very hard to take a firm tone about missing Flenboms and Svenglobs, and whatever else all the parts are called. grin

I'm not a great fan. It's so huge and the restaurant! Well it's always packed and the food is worse than school dinners ? yuck! I wouldn't queue to get in that's for sure.
