Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey at present dry but windy here in Brackley this morning .
Nice easy day for me , small shop ,and then will watch cycling on TV.
Maybe some small household chores as well .
Yesterdays bus trip was OK , as the rain eased a little but the wind did not.
Take Care ,
Mick

Sun’s up here! ?
Good morning everyone from Malaga where we have another gorgeous day ahead of us ? I feel blessed this summer, enjoying all this sunshine!

Happy birthday Beechnut a fellow Virgoan ?

I finished my book on the equestrian world and really enjoyed it. Now I’ve started a novel by Jenny Eclair called ‘The Inheritance’. I’ve never read one by her before and so far it’s highly enjoyable and I’m hooked. So that’s me sorted for today - swimsuit and sundress, shades, flip flops and down into the gardens. I lose myself in a book and never get bored. It’s too hot for walking far anyway for another couple of weeks!
?

Hope you return home with your handbag Pantglas and you pick up that blue jacket from Seasalt NanKate - my kind of shopping ladies!

Hope Wednesday is kind to us all and that your son’s medical team are happy with his discharge grandMattie as that would set your mind at ease. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Good morning from the NE where it is grey and wet again.
The workmen did not turn up to resurface the road after I cancelled the hairdresser.
My two expected parcels did arrive because the man from the big river could get into the estate.
My sister rang and we had a long chat, she has a fairly active social life which gives her company. She has visited friends and been out for meals and does a gymnastics class too.
Talking to her you would never know that the virus was still active.
DS and family are still enjoying better weather than us, good move to visit the outer Hebrides.
Happy birthday Beechnut, enjoy your day.

Ah, cross posts and crossed wiring with my head these days Grandmafrench. Maybe I am the one who needs to lie in a darkened room???‍♀️

It’s crazy behaviour that takes over whenever visitors are expected and we rush around ensuring everything is tickety boo but I don’t suppose we will break the habit now. Being able to multitask is the gift of being female, or so it appears in this house anyway. ?
Although unable to multitask DH is also back to normal thank you.

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 08:24:35

I forgot to send hugs to GM and Ginster, who must be so worried just now.?

Oopsadaisy4 Wed 26-Aug-20 08:22:16

Happy birthday beechnut have a lovely day??

Morning Mike and everyone, the wind has dropped and the sun is shining, let’s hope it stays that way, rough day yesterday so bathroom shopping will have to be done tomorrow, DD2s dog here in a bit, so a nice restful day and hopefully a dry and sunny walk later.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Marydoll Wed 26-Aug-20 08:20:31

Good morning all from a somewhat damp Glasgow. I'm not complaining, it's a vast improvement on yesterday's torrential rain.

Happy birthday Beechnut, I hope you have an enjoyable day.
I would like to thank everyone for their good wishes and kind PMs yesterday. It's now time to put the PM business to bed, methinks. Life is too short to dwell on the negatives in life.

I spent half of yesterday on an online chat with my credit card company, still trying to dispute the charges for the wedding.
When the wedding was cancelled, we started claims to retrieve the money we had paid, as the venue refused to refund, not being able to offer a new date.
I uploaded all the necessary paperwork and waited and waited and waited.
Yesterday DH received a letter with a completely different reference number, stating they were closing the dispute, as we hadn't furnished the necessary documents.??
It turns out someone had inadvertently marked the case as closed.

None of my security questions worked and I asked them to reset them. Four times I had to do it. Thank goodness I was used to this sort of thing in school, as the IT coordinator. At one point I had four windows open on my PC.
Are you still there? , the agent kept typing.
Of course I'm ** still here. It's taking so long for you to resolve this, I keep getting timed out and have to log in again,.
The end result was that despite all the discussion, I had to start the disputed charge process all over again.
After doing this I was another hour later, chatting online, trying to confirm with yet another agent that all the necessary documentation had been uploaded. You guessed, none of the security questions matched!?

It set me wondering. I had to scan receipts and invoices to do this. What if I wasn't IT literate? There was no other way to do this, apart scanning and uploading or faxing.
Own up you lovely grans how many have a fax machine just sitting at home waiting for a situation like this??? ? It's actually quite discriminatory, if people don't have access to technology.

I spent the rest of the day, unsuccessfully trying to print the wedding photos to put in frames. I'm a perfectionist and the tiny bit of border showing was really annoying me.
Today's task is to investigate my printer settings,. If all else fails, I shall try sending them to DHs printer. I'm still a geek at heart!?
If that doesn't work, I shall trim the white margins and rummage in my neglected crafting stash and mount them on card.
Everything is theoretically impossible, until it is done

I'm awaiting a delivery of my dreaded injections today. It's all so different from the usual medication fiasco, as it's organised by the hospital. Every so often, I get a phone call, asking what I need.

Scentia, enjoy your time with your grandchildren.
I too am wondering about Bellasnanna and our other missing grans.?
Take care everyone and have the best day you can.

Gelisajams Wed 26-Aug-20 08:18:40

Good morning all. Wishing Beechnut a very Happy Birthday from a wet Morecambe Bay. Hopefully it will dry up as promised in the forecast so we can get a couple of lawns cut this afternoon. It’s set wet again tomorrow and Friday.
I’ve got a cupboard full of garden designs , which I have built up over the last fifteen years since I gave up teaching and started as a garden designer. They really do need sorting out, but it’s one of those jobs that I’ve been putting off. I think I need to get back designing rather than gardening - it’s much easier on my back. The problem is when I’ve designed a garden the client wants me to build it and that can be very hard work. My days of filling and emptying a cement mixer are long over!
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a currently sunny east London.
Happy birthday Beechnut, hope you have a lovely day.

Like everyone, I am relieved that the wind has died down, it was indeed fierce.

I have a medical appointment today and then we have to take our elderly cat to the vet. She hates going in the car and cries piteously.

Hello to Bluesapphire and Dragonfly. Hoping Cherry had a better night and hello to Puzzler61, who doesn’t seem to have been on the GM thread for a little while. Have a good day all, ?

Kalu Wed 26-Aug-20 08:03:24

Happy Birthday Beechnut????.

If ever proof was needed I was losing the plot, you have just witnessed it grandmafrench?. Enjoy your catch up lunch of non stop chatting.

Grandmafrench Wed 26-Aug-20 08:00:38

Thank you Kalu. Fear not, I was up and at 'em this morning (6th post!)...I know, it shocked me too. Since I have food to prepare for a lunch with friends, I wanted to make a start before the sunshine. It's 8oclock your time and 25degs here already, so I am running about (with a duster and vacuum cleaner.! ). Pretty damned talented considering I also seem to be typing this at the same time!! Absolutely no idea why the flurry of housework, no one is coming into the house except for the loo' but old habits die hard, don't they. Have a good day and trust that your DH is more himself today - nasty things migraines! Keep safe inside your new book! grin .

Taichinan Wed 26-Aug-20 07:48:46

Good morning all, and Happy Birthday Beechnut from a grey and cold Angus coast. What a storm yesterday! I don't know when I last saw rain like that, and strong winds with it. Let's just say it wasn't warm! We have decided to recommence tai chi classes when halls become available and with smaller numbers. My hall is not open yet but I'm looking to see if another one is. I have logistical nightmares ahead, trying to fit classes for 45 people, socially distanced, into three hours! A trip to the shops is necessary today - I have meat in the freezer, but little in the fridge to go with it. I'm beginning to feel as grey and dreary as the sky. Have a bright day wherever you are - and here's to winter clothes and raincoats! ???

Kalu Wed 26-Aug-20 07:48:16

Good morning all from an unpromising looking sky here in Glasgow. Yesterday’s heavy rain meant I could get started on a new book so I count that as a plus.

DH had a particularly nasty migraine yesterday and spent the best part of the day lying in a darkened room until it lifted early evening. One of the the things which causes them is coffee, which he loves and has been having one a day for a while now, we thought he was no longer having an adverse reaction but it was obviously building up as yesterday proved.

I am expecting a delivery today which might well be the highlight of my day along with some faffing about.

I noticed you are MIA grandmaFrench. Hope all is well with you.

Hope you are feeling a bit brighter today after the nasty upsetting PM Marydoll. Be kind to yourself today.

Best wishes to all for a good day especially those of our friends who have worries to cope with.

NanKate Wed 26-Aug-20 07:47:16

Morning Mick and All.

A very happy birthday Beechnut ??

Hugs to Marydoll.

We are away on a short holiday on this blustery but sunny day.

Think we will visit the Avebury Standing Stones and then stop off at Marlborough for a bit of retail therapy at Seasalt. I’ve seen a nice blue jacket in the Sale.

Gingster Wed 26-Aug-20 07:46:28

Good morning all from a still very windy Suffolk coast. I like my windows open at night but the blinds were flapping about so much it kept me awake so had to close them. Now woken with a stuffy head. Just let little pooch out in the garden and the gate had blown open, dustbins on their sides and rain barrel rolling around. Also the heavy garden bench has blown over and is leaning against the table. Some power In that wind.

We will shop today as we have visitors Thursday and Friday. We had planned a lovely summer garden bar b q in lieu of my 70th last month, walks along the beach and lazing in the sunshine. I think it will be more like a cosy dinner in the summerhouse and chatting til we’re hoarse. Never mind it’s the company of old friends that’s important.

Happy birthday Beechnut hope you have a lovely day ?
It was my DG2 ‘s 14th birthday yesterday., and she ended up in hospital with really bad stomache pains. They called for an ambulance as she had passed out and was shaking. The paramedics put her on a drip and took her to hospital. They said it’s probably her ovaries . Hope it isn’t endometriosis which is so painful. She doesn’t need that at her age! ?

Have a pleasant day all . ?

Susan56 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:46:20

Have a good day all.

Pittcity Wed 26-Aug-20 07:42:39

Good morning from windy Colchester. The wind kept me awake too, hope there's not too much damage. It's not forecast to drop until this afternoon, so more indoor activities with 2 dgs.

Happy birthday*beechnut*?

MellowYellow Wed 26-Aug-20 07:42:25

Happy birthday Beechnut! ? Bright and breezy in south Cornwall today, almost autumnal (which I love). Ended up in Newquay yesterday with son and grandson. Boy, was it packed with people not sure what to do on a damp August day! I love the contrast between the two coasts in Cornwall - the waves were magnificent there yesterday, with loads of surfers. Today it's the allotment knitting group, lovely bunch of ladies, but only three of us can make it this time. Have a good day everyone, if you can.

Grammaretto Wed 26-Aug-20 07:42:00

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It has stopped raining but is still dreich.
No yarn group in the garden. We'll have to be virtual.
Happy Birthday Beechnut wineflowerscupcake
Still a worry about your son GrandMattie I spent a week in hospital once before my pain source was discovered. I had every available scan but it was a blood test result which showed the mischief.
Hope today goes well for all those struggling.

Jaxjacky Wed 26-Aug-20 07:40:27

Good Morning Mick and all from a calmer Hants, suns out and I hope it stays as washing going on in a minute.
Tesco delivering pm, then out for last EOTHO meal tonight, must ring the dentist. I need extensive dental work and am the most scaredy cat, started at dentist who specialises in phobic people just before lockdown, so need to see her plan and hopefully, ? start soon.
Have a lovely day all.

kittylester Wed 26-Aug-20 07:37:44

Morning all from a very windy North Leicestershire. You must work closing to me Scentia as our bit of Leicestershire is about 5 miles from Nottinghamshire.

We had a lovely lunch out with DS1 yesterday and a lovely relaxed chat.

Zoomed Carer's course this morning. We have 8 participants which is quite a big group and I am jiggered after. Strange as we have 15 or so on real life courses and it isn't a problem.

We have a new cleaner starting today - hope she is as good as seems.

Many happy returns Beechnut.

Thinking of everyone with worries and problems.

Lins1066 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:30:44

Good Morning Mick and all. I asked my Alexa the time earlier and had the reply " It's 7.58...it's a bit parky out there isn't it".
The high winds were frightening here too yesterday, glad it is a bit calmer this morning.
Wishing Beechnut a very Happy Birthday ?
Have a pleasant day everyone, stay safe.

Sar53 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:26:59

Sorry meant to wish Beechnut a very happy birthday ???xx

Sar53 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:25:35

Good morning all from a bright but still windy Essex by the sea.
A disturbed night, I have a 'tummy' problem, hope it sorts itself out today. We are booked for a 'Rishi' meal tonight in a local pub. Looking forward to not having to cook.
I must vacuum through this morning and there is more washing to do, two people seem to produce an awful lot of dirty clothes !!!
Have a lovely Wednesday everyone and stay safe xx

Pantglas2 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:07:01

Have a lovely day Beechnut ??

GrannyGravy13 Wed 26-Aug-20 07:05:48

Good morning Mick and all

It has been so windy here overnight hardly slept.

Happy Birthday Beechnut ??

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️
