Good Morning Everyone,
Its but looking dry outside this morning in Brackley .
Today , quiet easy day do some more housework , and settle down and watch TV and the Giro later .
Being a fan of real ale I feed into to an email related group ,and have read a recent piece in relation to the 10pm shutdowns this couple were in a Wetherspoons at 915pm and the pub was deserted.
Take Care ,
Mick

Good Morning All x.
Not very promising weatherwise with quite a stiff breeze blowing. I wish it would blow the bloomin' virus away.

Ventured to Asda yesterday afternoon and was gone for a couple of hours with my long list. I taxied there and back of course and strict instructions were in place---no mask, no taxi. Fair enough ! Asda were the same, mask on and keep your distance. Anyway I got pretty well most of what I wanted/needed so was a happy bunny---especially with my dried peas. grin No bouillon though, sold out.

I must turf some clothes out today seeing that a bag was popped through the letter-box yesterday and picking up tomorrow, now's my chance. They probably won't mind if I use other bags too if I turn them inside out as there'll be more than will fill one bag.

Thinking of Marydoll and those who live in Scotland, in or near Glasgow as things appear pretty bad with Covid. Don't be going out unless you really have to do. Northeast too isn't looking too good either, so Gilly and family take care. x I hope D won't be going to Durham either much as Ruby-Lou loves to see family as two staff tested positive last week.
It's so scary when you have this virus on your doorstep.

I must stay awake tonight because the crime that I've followed over the years is having an airing tonight from a different perspective so we'll see. The prosecution side have had their way for far too long now so it'll make a change to actually see another view. Ch5-11.05pm until 12.05.

Hoping that everyone is keeping well and staying safe with thoughts to our friends who are struggling.xx flowers

Marydoll Wed 07-Oct-20 08:16:16

Ginsger, I have been wearing varifocals for about twenty years. They took a bit of getting used to, but it was much better than wearing two pairs of glasses all the time. My pupils found it hilarious, when I had one pair on my face and one on my head!

I decided to try them for the first time on a holiday to Cyprus.
We were sitting on our balcony having breakfast, when my husband asked why my arms were flailing about.
I was having difficulty placing my cup on the table. My new glasses made it appear concave, with a huge dip.
I wouldn't be without them now! You have to persevere.

Morning Mick, morning All. A brighter start to our corner of Somerset, window cleaners are due so bound to rain later grin.

Grocery click and collect and dust removal for us today. With regret I’ll be swapping summer clothes for winter ones in the wardrobe. You never know, it might trigger a warm spell. Welcome to misschateline, it will all be worth it when you have your new kitchen. Sorry you’re down at the moment sars, same here for the last few days, be kind to yourself, it will pass. Special thoughts for all not posting at the moment for whatever reason. Take care everyone, look after yourselves.

Good Morning Mick and all from a dry and brightish S Welsh coast. Didn't get to sleep until 3 am, no idea why. Currently having tea and toast in bed while reading the posts. It does take you a while to get used to varifocals Gingster, I have an eye test booked for tomorrow. I admit to doing the same with our granite worktops Marydoll, that's five years ago now ?I join Marydoll in hoping our three friends on the norty step are back soon xx.
Welcome to you Miss Chateline.
Yesterday's hospital visit went well, I had an injection for my osteoporosis which had to be in my right arm as my left is still sore from my flu jab. A quiet day is planned for us today.
Take care everyone.

GrannyOwl5 Wed 07-Oct-20 08:31:05

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is a brighter day. Hopefully it stays dry as the washing machine is whirring away tackling the first of three loads which I hope to peg out.

A housework day; decided that today is the day when the dust will be disturbed and the hoover woken from hibernation! These feelings don’t come over me very often so have to take full advantage when they do.

Hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe.

Grandmabatty Wed 07-Oct-20 08:31:23

Good morning All. I have absolutely no plans today. I would have visited mum but we aren't allowed in other households. She won't answer the phone either so it's been radio silence for a while. My brother lives with her and hasn't been in touch so no news is good news. I should have a WhatsApp chat with pals this afternoon. If it's a quiet day then that's fine. I daren't visit The Range, Marydoll! I always buy something. We have one five minutes away. It's a fairly bright and sunny morning in Polmont. I popped my nose (and the rest of me) outside earlier and it seems quite cold. I think I shall survey my estates and get the gardeners to work, ie I'll potter outside. Have a good day all.

Gingster Wed 07-Oct-20 08:32:17

Thanks Marydoll, I will persevere. ?

Greyduster Wed 07-Oct-20 08:36:06

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun was out early this morning in South Yorkshire, but has obviously changed it’s mind. We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon. We are supposed to be walking today, but if it doesn’t cheer up I may think twice about it and stay in with a book! I also have to look for a piano tuner as my usual chap has retired. They are as rare as hens teeth these days! Welcome aboard Miss Chateline. Have a good safe day folks.

Susan56 Wed 07-Oct-20 08:49:30

Good morning from Shropshire where the rain has stopped??

DH is going into town for a haircut and to do a bit of shopping.I have decided to stay at home as I have a cold and also can’t remember the last time I stayed home alone. My plan is to get all my chores done before he goes and then have a quiet couple of hours reading.Thats the plan anyway!

Hope you are feeling better today Cherry?

Thinking of gilly,Georgesgran and all with illness and worries.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Anniebach Wed 07-Oct-20 09:02:42

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Georgesgran Wed 07-Oct-20 09:07:13

Good morning from Durham. Bright and breezy - possibly chilly too.

DH’s young Consultant rang over the weekend with mixed news. Some areas of lymphoma have grown, while one has shrunk and others remain static. This new treatment was never going to produce spectacular results, but it’s been decided that it can continue, so every month now through to May. Its a new, very expensive system only approved by NICE last November, so the first ‘Trail Blazers’ are still on it. It’s a one-off 12 month course, but then the follow-ups will be of great interest.

Strict lockdown here. DD brought DGS yesterday, but chose not to come indoors. They are our bubble, but best to take no risks. A chat on the drive but DGS wanted to go in the garden (it’s big) to feed the giant koi in our pond and kick his football around. Didn’t think it would do much harm so 10 minutes spent doing that and DD picked a few apples to take home.

Blood Test for me at GP later - I haven’t darkened their doors for a decade, but have been summoned.

Have been keeping abreast with GN - still no word from missing regulars, which is worrying.
Stay safe everyone. X

Good morning from a brighter N Hants. Thinking of all the difficulties and health problems Gnetters are coping with. I really hope that soon there is a light at the end of this very long tunnel ??.

Mancgirl I was very interested to read about your Virgin visit. I’ve put up with the same problem for months, but as it is intermittent I haven’t bothered to do anything. I hope to hear if the visit was worthwhile.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

Bellasnana Wed 07-Oct-20 09:18:44

Good morning from Malta where it’s a bit cloudy but still very warm.

I’m running late today due to being up until 2am watching the tennis. There were some excellent matches yesterday but I wasn’t very happy when Nadal’s match didn’t start until after 10pm (local time). Heaven knows how they played so late and in such cold weather.

Have done my exercises ( I know, thrilling isn’t it ?) and think I will take myself out for coffee once I’m showered and presentable.

This afternoon, more tennis. Don’t know what I shall do next week when it’s over.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, I do wish we could hear from gilly though.? ☀️

Nannytopsy Wed 07-Oct-20 09:19:59

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Bright and breezy in Suffolk this morning so I shall have another attempt to dry the washing. DH and I had a productive hour or two in the garden yesterday then got soaked while tidying up.
DS made an emergency visit yesterday afternoon to use our broadband for an important Zoom meeting. Theirs crashed suddenly and he got set up here with about 30 seconds to spare.
Afterwards we organised Christmas! It’s nice to know what we are doing. Do you think Boris will relax the rule of 6 for Christmas Day? I felt he was hinting that way.
I am out of touch with the norty step - have grans gone quiet of their own accord or been silenced?
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Kalu Wed 07-Oct-20 09:30:57

Good morning all to a breezy but dry day in Glasgow where the sun has now arrived

Oh I envy you those snuggles GrannyGravy. Those snuggles are priceless and there is no feeling quite like it. The years fly by so quickly and it’s hard to believe our GDs are now 15 and 11 but still enjoy snuggles. When GDs cuddle me on either side, they call it a Granny sandwich. ?

A warm welcome Miss Chateline. I could feel your excitement with your new kitchen jumping off the page ?
It must be eight years since ours was done but still gives me pleasure and the memories of such an upheaval with mess and dust were worth going through.

I have no idea who is on the norty step but my fingers are crossed for an early release. ?

Hope everyone has a pleasant day doing whatever you can to enjoy it. Best wishes to our friends who are facing any difficult times.

Urmstongran Wed 07-Oct-20 09:34:34

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s another sunny day ?

Short and sweet from me this morning. I’ve only just logged on as I’ve been on the phone with our daughter. Seems the Covid warriors are now 3 as our 8y old grandson has symptoms. Very high temperature and vomiting, bless.

Mummy has sent off for a test for him. He’s already in quarantine. She said it’s not really surprising he has symptoms.

This awful horrid virus. It’s such a concern.

Himself has just brought me a coffee so I shall sit on the balcony and catch up with all your messages.

Hope Wednesday is good to us all. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Gelisajams Wed 07-Oct-20 09:36:31

À late good morning from a cool dry Morecambe Bay. We sat in bed this morning with our cups of tea discussing where we could go next week for our last foray of the year in the camper which turned into reminiscing about places and experiences but took us no further on deciding where to go. We are going for a walk in the Dales shortly, so no doubt the conversation will continue. DH fancies Norfolk as he’s never been but it’s a fair way to go which would mean a few days away but then there’s the problem of much food we can carry as we are not going in shops cafes etc.
Maybe next year for Norfolk......
Welcome MissChateline and everyone else, take care and stay safe?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 07-Oct-20 09:37:54

Gingster I struggled at the beginning with varifocals, but now I wouldn't dream of going back to two pairs of glasses. I do have a cheaper reading pair for when I read fall asleep in bed.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 07-Oct-20 09:51:31

Good morning from a beautiful autumn day. I have already spent over an hour in the garden so that I can recline on the couch guilt free to watch the tennis. Supermarket delivery later. If the tennis is as thrilling as yesterday I might have to let the ice cream thaw until the game break.
ginster. The varifocals also need perseverance. They are definitely worth it. My first ones took three days to get used to but I kept swapping between old and new. Now I set aside two days where I won’t be driving and go for immersion. It has never taken me longer than two hours to become completely used to them now. Just the first time that is awkward. Wear them while you are sitting down for a while first. Oh and I eat chocolate to compensate for the very slightly seasick feeling - only lasts 10 minutes. You won’t go back. Lecture over.
I am increasingly concerned for “gillybob” and wish she would even post a ?. Gillybob I am thinking about you and sending supportive vibes. To everyone else have the best day you can.

EllanVannin Wed 07-Oct-20 09:56:17

Wonderful memories of Cockington village/ Babbacombe. An absolute delight. I also visited Cockington Green, a replica which is in Canberra and saw my first little bluebird there amongst the models, it seemed so appropriate.
I have many photo's of both.

Auntieflo Wed 07-Oct-20 09:56:59

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It's brightening up nicely here, so fingers crossed for a good day.

I am having fat fingers this morning, every second word is underlined. How many more mistakes will I make?

Another day of nothing planned, but I have got two small Sedums that were in a reduced corner of Waitrose, still waiting to find a place in the garden.

I too am wondering who is on the Norty step. I can think of one, but not the others. What on earth have they been up to?

Ginster, just don't look down at your feet! I got quite woozy

We have a 3 year old GGS Grannygravy13, who is a great lover of his food. When asked at nursery what he most like about it, his answer was " lunch time'. Not what they were expecting.
I did get him a small toy giraffe yesterday, to post off soon. He loves the book 'Giraffes don't jump', and he wanted me to knit one, but a ready made is so much easier, for me.

Sar, hope you begin to feel a bit more upbeat soon.
* Gilly*, take care, and know we miss you every day.

Have a good day one and all.

dragonfly46 Wed 07-Oct-20 10:00:00

Sorry to hear about you DGS Urmston. We are given to believe that children do not get Covid but they obviously do. It is very worrying.

We have resigned to not seeing our DGC for a very long time!

gillgran Wed 07-Oct-20 10:13:51

Good Morning to you all from Cambs.,
Today seems to be what it should be in October/Autumn, dry, with the sun trying to shine & not too cold, just right!!
smile.

I, too seem to have missed whatever happened to cause some (?) of our friends to have been excluded (on norty step).

I send good wishes to you all, especially those with extra worries & troubles.flowers
Take care, good friends.

EllanVannin Wed 07-Oct-20 10:17:21

Sark, those sort of headaches sometimes appear with the menopause and are hormonal at that stage. Because the pain is in " the attic ", it could well be something connected with the " basement ", i.e. a change going on with the womb/ovaries.
I don't know why some GP's nearly always try and treat the affected area when the cause can be an entirely different part of the body.

Maybe if your DD mentions Dixarit ( Clonidine ) when she next visits the GP or even if she asks to give it a try and see what happens. She can't possibly function properly when she has continuous migraines. No harm in asking is there ?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Wed 07-Oct-20 10:25:15

Morning all from a fairly bright South Notts. Nothing planned today so will be pottering about which I rather like.

I have lovely memories of the miniature model village at Babbacombe Ashcombe I like that sort of thing.

Hope all is well for everyone especially those with illness or worries.
