Crazy coincidence

DH and I went to a nearby town this afternoon as he needed an item from a specialist shop. Having bought said item and after a pleasant walk around the park, we were heading back to the car when I noticed a bus pass on the pavement. It was around school coming-out time so assumed it had been dropped by a pupil. Would not normally pick something up from the pavement in these conditions but on bending down to have a closer look, saw that the photo was of the son of friends of ours and the name matched! These are friends who we don't see more than a couple of times a year, but we get on well when we do meet up. (Husbands used to work together about 20 years ago!) After a couple of calls to the parents, we were able to deliver the lost photo card to their home. It was a bit out of our way but we weren't doing anything else and were relieved that the card and owner could be reunited. He's 15 and did not relish the thought of telling his parents that he'd lost the card, so was extremely grateful.
What are the odds of this happening, especially as we live in neighbouring towns, about 15 miles apart?

We were drinking coffee at a cafe in Florida when the neighbours from two doors down walked past.

In Ibiza, we shared a table with some strangers because it was crowded. They came from Wallasey, we come from Devon. We had a friend who originated from Wallasey so I asked if they knew him. Got a “don’t be stupid” look but it happened that the woman worked with our friend’s mother.

When I was a PTA treasurer, our mail kept going to the school finance officer and she always opened it, despite it being addressed to me. We discovered she had the same name, including her middle name. Her husband had the same name as my husband’s brother and it turned out that as boys, they had played together when they met at a campsite.

My son-in-law went to Nigeria on business. He was being driven by a colleague through a remote area when they came across another 2 men obviously having car trouble. They picked them up and one of them said to my sil, that's a Northern accent, where are you from. When he said the name of the village and that his parents ran a dog kennels there the other man said 'Is your mum's name Anne?' It turned out his mum was a friend of his mum and the man regularly put his dog in the kennels.

Many years ago, we were on holiday in a small hotel in Barbados, tucked away in the quieter South of the island. We were waiting to talk to the receptionist one day when I saw a letter on the desk, addressed to my doctor. Seems she had been staying there and had left something behind.

Another bizarre coincidence happened many years ago when my husband was repping. He was coming home down the M62 in thick fog and saw a man walking down the hard shoulder with a petrol can in his hand. Knowing he was miles from anywhere husband pulled up and asked if he was ok - the man was obviously upset and said he'd been walking for ages and had lost his car which had run out of petrol somewhere. After some quizzing husband managed to work out where he'd been so took him back and they found his car.

Some time later my dad was playing golf in our old home town (not where we were living by then) and got talking to one of the other players who told the tale of this kind young man who'd rescued him on the motorway and taken him back to his car. Dad was able to proudly say that was his SIL smile
