Sandrahill just popping back to say welcome to this thread during what is obviously a very difficult time for you and your DH. Sending good wishes to you both and hope that the positive thoughts and wishes wafting to you from all of us offer a small measure of support. I’m sure many of us will be holding you both in our thoughts

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jan-21 11:25:18

Hello to you Litterpicker ?
It’s always a pleasure to welcome new posters to Mick’s great thread.
(Actually Mick out of curiosity - how many years ago did you start it?)

GrandmaFrench is right. I do like to enquire about the value of your property. Not being nosy of course - it’s just that it’s such an important bit of information about a person ... which I’m sure you’ll agree with and want to share.

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jan-21 11:27:43

Actually EV I’m still not washed and dressed either! Sympatico.
?
Of course if I’m going to mention a walk to Himself I’ll have to move ...

Still thinking.
I like to mull things over.

Good morning from a sunny north of Scotland. We have blue skies and snow, lovely to look at. Welcome to redgran. Welcome also to sandra. Sorry to hear about your husband. You can post here any/every morning after MICK has opened the thread for the day. Tomorrow look in “chat” for Good Morning Saturday. We like to know what area you are in and what the weather is like. urmstongran will ask for the value of your house a la Daily Mail. She is joking but the best reply so far has been “priceless”. I hope your husband is being well looked after and you find time to be kind to yourself.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Not dressed yet either, but I am clean!

Good morning Mick and all from The Hermitage, North West coast.
Got going a bit yesterday after a slump of “what’s the point?” painting greetings cards and some paperwork, reorganising a holiday, doctors appointment to check blood pressure (low I should imagine, not too excited these days)
Walking round suburban streets in heavy rain, unable to see through wet specs isn’t much fun but I have forced myself out and of course one feels a little better for being out.
Watched The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Society film, which was a load of tosh, indicated by its title, but enjoyed One of Us on Netflix, a documentary about ultra Orthodox Jews in Brooklyn.
Will come back and read your diary entries later a d send thoughts to the troubled.

Auntieflo Fri 15-Jan-21 11:48:04

Good morning, again.
I have been overwhelmed with the many messages of good luck, virtual hugs and offers of PM's if needed.
Wow, thank you all.

Well I have had my appointment, and seen the consultant and his lovely assistant Dr. Had a long chat, with DD taking notes. She is so organised. I now have to have a PET scan, next Friday, and see the consultant a week after that. Keep on with the pain relief, and not much else really, until they know more of what's going on inside!

I hope Maw is OK, I don't know what has happened, just from reading on here, that there was some nastiness. Why? So I wish her well.
EV, I love the description of your hair, made me smile. Are you up and dressed yet?
Hoping you get your surgery and your meds sorted out Marydoll. Please don't get too het up and set off your blood pressure. Easy for me to say, but we all need you and your writings on here to cheer us up and make us laugh.
As it's Friday, a special mention to our Gillybob. Come by and wave to us all sometime soon. We miss you. ?

Good morning from the Sefton coast where everything is white with frost.
We’ve been having fun and games here at GarraManor. In the early hours of Thursday morning our doorbell rang, indicating a change in the power supply - our electricity had gone off. Right then...mobile phone to the ready (the landline rendered useless) to contact 105. Help was on its way but that wasn’t the end of it. Loud booms signalled the street lights going out so we were in total darkness, unable to turn on the heating or make a hot drink! After three hours the fault was traced to a fuse in the sub station. Sorted.
Lesson learned: have the mobile phone fully charged, fill a flask with boiling water, keep a torch near to hand. All would be well.
Jokingly we asked ourselves if those lost tribes at the bottom of the freezer might almost have been defrosted?
Maybe so... for 17 hours later, just before midnight, the same thing happened again.
Three van loads of engineers appeared, a scanner and carbon detector confirmed wires were burning under the pavement opposite and the decision to dig up tarmac at 5am was delayed until daylight hours. I feel really sorry for those poor men working through the night in sub zero temperatures.
OH has had a great time chinwagging - -and gossiping- - with our neighbours throughout this mini drama. I’ve stayed warm, in bed, merely reminding him to keep his distance from everyone. wink Now wires are wedged under garage doors, one pavement is dug up and fenced off, the other is occupied by the generator.
Some of the vast multitudes of visitors to the coast here are going to be put out. Where, oh where, are they going to park now? ???
Enough of me. Sending gentle hugs to all and holding Auntieflo’s hand. Have as good a day as you can.

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jan-21 11:54:34

A nice frisson of drama over in Sefton nana. A bit of excitement (albeit with inconvenience) with no-one hurt. Perfect way to shake up the boring monotonous days! Thanks for sharing.

A late good morning to you all.

Greyduster has our forecast for South Yorkshire spot on. Here we had fog earlier, but then the sun made a brief attempt to show itself, but it's clouding up again now, and the fog hasn't completely lifted. I'm rather glad I don't need to go anywhere today as the roads look treacherous, especially the side roads - no gritters came our way at all, and the buses stopped running. I don't think they've resumed yet, though they run virtually empty anyway.

Another pottering day, surprise, surprise! ?. One day, I'll have something interesting to say rather than things such as "I'm ironing" ?.

I do hope that Auntieflo hears some positive news at the hospital today.

To all with troubles I send best wishes ? and a warm welcome to all the new posters.

Take care all.

I'm popping back to say to Sandrahill that I'm so sorry to hear about her husband. Stay strong Sandra and post here, you are among friends. xxx

I don't know what happened with Maw either, but haste ye back lady.

I have made a fish pie for tonight which Mr Lins loves. He had the cheek to complain about the smell of fish - it's a good job that he's taken himself off to the garden shed....

Annaram1 Fri 15-Jan-21 12:01:24

Hi all

My phone has now been out of action for 3 days. Its so difficult without it. It does not look as if it will be fixed this week.

I may be buying shares in Parsley Box. I have the brochure but can't order yet because of my phone...

I hope all of you with worries and illness find that things improve for you.

lemongrove Fri 15-Jan-21 12:01:51

Hi Lins ?we miss you in The Argy.

Urmstongran Fri 15-Jan-21 12:05:22

I can hear sounds from the kitchen. Scrubbing.
I think Himself is using a Brillo and cleaning the oven. He gets bored ...

I think I’ll just turn the sound up on the tv here in my bedroom a wee bit...
?
Then I can act surprised when he comes in to tell me the deed is done.

Litterpicker Fri 15-Jan-21 13:29:58

Urmstongran House value must be at least three and tuppence ha’penny ?

Grandmafrench Fri 15-Jan-21 13:49:38

Litterpicker Show off ! ?

NanKate Fri 15-Jan-21 13:59:06

PS I wrote to Gillybob recently and got a lovely reply. I told her how much she was missed. I really thought she would pop in this week but it seems not. I don’t want to hassle her as it must be her decision whether she returns or not.

hulahoop Fri 15-Jan-21 14:28:54
