Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry and slightly grey sky start here in Brackley this ,morning.
Today a quiet day with plenty of cycling on after a small shop locally .
Yesterdays downside of having to eat outside at pubs or cafes is vermin from pigeons , who tend to hang around areas where food is served , they could be virus carrier's.
Take Care ,
Mick

Marydoll Yes I had thought about hot days. I’ll just have to recline and put my legs up so it’s not so important to wear them. Maybe we can run to a Butler to keep me supplied with cooling drinks.
Cosy in the winter though.

Marydoll Wed 21-Apr-21 19:45:09

ginny I have the toeless ones. My GP told me that he had given me the toeless ones to show off my painted toenails. The first time he prescribed them, I had painted my toenails scarlet! He knows how vain I am! blush
I hate wearing them, as they make my legs so warm in summer and they look as if I have a dodgy fake tan .It's also becoming harder and harder to put them on.

Gwen, I do have great support from OT and various gadgets, including one to put on socks.
The hand problem forced me to prematurely give up teaching in 2014, there isn't much more than can be done, but I do appreciate all your support and kind words. ?

ginny Wed 21-Apr-21 19:13:52

Blossoming thanks for taking the time to tell your tip.
I asked for open toe but they gave me closed. I read and followed the instructions for putt them on and it wasn’t too difficult.
The worse thing is that being thigh length they tend to roll down a bit at the top. I managed to find some clip on suspenders ( didn’t want the discomfort of a belt) and they work quite well.
Of course the stockings are very attractive?

Urmstongran Wed 21-Apr-21 18:50:21

Urmstongran, does your lovely maple need a lot of sun?

Well, for starters Stilllearning we do live in Manchester!
??

Seriously though, our front door gets the morning sun and then after lunch the maple is in the shade. I hope that helps?

Nice to ‘meet’ you Dogs ?

Good afternoon all from partly sunny Harrogate. My attempts posting this am were thwarted by just about everyone!! We had to have the plumber out to put back a shower he took down last year because it was leaking. It has to be replaced through Domestic & General on Friday and they refused to replace it if it wasn't in situ!! -Crazy!!

My DD arrived to take DH and dog out for a walk, but I was just reading all your posts when they were back. After she left, DH decided we should take the car for it's spin, we went to Ripon, which gave me the chance of a rummage in a few shops, including Home Bargains - WOW!

We are just back.
Iris is a little Gem. Grandmattie
Marydoll my aunt (who is now in a home) has very little sight, and I was amazed at the gadgets she had from Occupational Therapy, to use her kettle and make tea without accidents - that's why I thought they might have something to help you?

Have as best day as you can, folks!

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 21-Apr-21 14:28:03

Thank you dusty angel for your welcome. Just call me Dogs.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 21-Apr-21 13:56:57

Good afternoon. Just sat down to read through all your busy posts. Cherry? for you. Glad to see you back sheep. Fish for tea as the van has been round this morning and then some seed planting. Have the best day you can.

Marydoll Wed 21-Apr-21 13:28:47

Litterpicker, both the A74 and A77 were becoming very congested. The M74 and M77 have made a difference to journey times. Especially the M77 wink

aggie Wed 21-Apr-21 12:58:53

Hi Everybody, bit late checking in today but I am trying to share a picture from my evening walk yesterday
I haven’t read the thread yet but here goes

Litterpicker Wed 21-Apr-21 11:55:14

Good morning from West Sussex. It is cloudier but still bright. Yesterday was glorious. We met our friends at the cafe in the park and had a lovely catch up.

I didn’t go into town last week as I thought it would be busy so yesterday was my first shopping/browsing session since before Christmas. There are really not many shops in our small town but I managed to spend all afternoon browsing. I was exhausted when I got home and felt guilty that I hadn’t been in the garden where DH has laid a lovely brick path to the shed and a new sitting area which will get the morning sun when it is out. I am responsible for the planting but first I have to finish putting protective paint on some postholders. Then we can put up some trellis - my neighbour doesn’t like any plants on the fence so we will put trellis along that side a foot or so away from her fence. She is a lovely neighbour so I want to keep her happy smile. I tend towards the “let everything do its own thing” school of gardening.

Marydoll I’m glad you had a good day out yesterday and how lovely that you found a second garden centre to make up for the disappointment over the first one. The photos are lovely. There is so much to see along that bit of coast. When visiting our daughter we enjoy the Forth coast. We will be camping near North Berwick in June, we hope. It’s good to hear that we should be able to spend time indoors with DD and family, just in case June is not as dry and sunny as we hope. Reservoir clue didn’t help a lot - there are several grin. Also my memory, and my OS map of Glasgow area, does not include all those motorways! I know they are there but I have only been on M8 and M9. How can there be a motorway running alongside the A74?!

Ellianne your olive bread yesterday, looked yummy. Pantglas my DH is the bread maker and I keep hoping he will try sourdough. He thinks it is too much faff.

Thinking of Sheep, harrigran, GrannySomerset, Muse, Scentia and someone else with a pregnant daughter (I will have to go back and re-read the past week). Also Iris and family. ?????????

grannylyn65 Wed 21-Apr-21 11:48:08

You don’t catch ‘vermin ‘ from pigeons

grandmajet Wed 21-Apr-21 11:47:55

Laura, I hope your coffee has arrived by now!

Blossoming Wed 21-Apr-21 11:46:34

ginny if the compression stockings are the ones with an opening that goes under your foot, a tip shown to me by a nurse years ago. Put a plastic bag over your foot and the stocking will slide on easily. Then just pull the plastic bag out through the opening underneath.

I’m a bit late today reporting from a cloudy Nottinghamshire, as I had a dentist appointment at 9 a.m. I’d forgotten that such a time existed outside my bed! It was fine, and my lovely dentist replaced a dislodged implant for me. I must not eat anything crunchy again!
I’m all excited as my 36 year old baby girl is coming from Norfolk to our garden tomorrow, with her young man. I’ve made a huge pot of veggie chilli and a spiced apple cake since returning from the dentist. My eldest daughter is dropping in soon for a garden can of soup, so I’m happy today. I’ve also made a fruit cake for today’s visitor.
blossoming, I hope your wildlife pond works out well, they are such fun as creatures start to move in, and the birds drink and have a bath.
grandmafrench, your struggles with the French bureaucracy makes me giggle, it sounds even worse than ours!
sheep, your lack of grass must be a nightmare, whereas for us it is just a slow growing lawn. I have old friends who farm a lot of sheep, and it was often either too muddy or too dry - I’ve never known people who work as hard as they do, if my daughters visited them they came back happy but exhausted - everyone had to muck in!
I hope everyone can enjoy the day.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers ,northwest Lancashire coast . Don’t be tempted to take a pigeon home for pigeon pie Mick!
Used a pressure washer for the very first time yesterday, my what a difference to the front path! I love it and talking about pigeons, it will clear their gunge from the back patio,
Had a nice takeaway Indian tikka masala last night for a treat with my DD and we had a quiz with Alexa. I whispered something and she asked me if I was whispering!
Today transferring paper and paints into a handy wheeled trolley to give the dining room table a break. AND more fun with the jet washer.
I hope Iris continues to improve and thoughts to poor Cherry, GranSomerset, and anyone with worries.
Haven’t seen sheep for a bit but haven’t read through yet.

Nannagarra Wed 21-Apr-21 11:27:26

WP = Wonderful Partner ?. How lovely!

Purplepixie Wed 21-Apr-21 11:24:05

Good morning from a very cloudy and dull East Midlands. Hair cut today, thank goodness. A bit of shopping later and knitting this afternoon.

Blossoming Wed 21-Apr-21 11:15:57

Good morning all from an unexpectedly cool, cloudy and windy Lancashire. I wonder if we will get some rain at last, as I know many gardeners are needing it. Our garden is in a state of upheaval so rain is not so important. I had become used to the warm sunny days, though yesterday got a bit too hot! I managed some kitchen cupboard clearance yesterday, actually threw some things out, I’m a hoarder by nature so it’s not easy. Using the gardening stool instead of bending worked well with and should make some other jobs easier too. The hiatal hernia is behaving itself and I’m sleeping well again.

Hope today brings some comfort to all in need of a little kindness.

Taichinan Wed 21-Apr-21 11:11:25

This is a photo specially for you Grandmattie - don't let the cold put you off your tai chi! You will see that we're all well wrapped up against the elements, but it was such a lovely experience out there.

dustyangel Wed 21-Apr-21 11:04:27

Good morning everyone from a very cloudy Portugal. I was half way through a post earlier, dragged my finger and lost the whole thing, so annoying!

Welcome Dogsmakemesmile, I meant to say it the other day and somehow missed you. Dogs make me smile too! (but I wish you had a shorter name smile!)

I have to go into Faro this afternoon for a CAT scan and although I’ve had them done before I have to not eat for 4 hours before this one which makes me feel slightly apprehensive. Also DH arranged for the car to have work done on it this week which means I have had to beg a lift. Oh well. I’d better go and have my second breakfast.

Taichinan Wed 21-Apr-21 11:01:17

Good morning all from a sunny Angus coast. I think you are safe from pigeons carrying Covid Mick - luckily for me as they abound around here. Seagulls are a menace down in the town, and they do attack! I once had my ice cream stollen out of my hand when I was wandering around the marina in the next town. I wouldn't have minded only I hadn't even had my first lick!!
Cherry I was astounded that you can get no help re your neighbour's behaviour and I feel so sorry for you. Surely your own doctor could help you to find help? It's affecting your own health so badly.
I didn't manage to have the garden meet up with my friend with the diagnosis of early Alzheimer's as it rained all afternoon. We rearranged for Friday, and then I remembered that I have my 2nd jab mid afternoon. What a busy life!
I had a text from our Chairperson to the effect that we should be able to re-start taichi classes after the 26th. I hastily confirmed the hall booking and put a preliminary notice on our FB group page, but not giving an exact date for return - only to receive a text from someone else on the committee to the effect that no we can't! I shall have to go away and read through all the do's and don'ts and see how I interpret them. There will no doubt be as many interpretations as there are committee members! To be honest I have become so lazy during these lockdowns that a little while longer to laze around is quite appealing - but don't tell anyone I said that!!
Now I must be off and do some hard labour around the house, so that I can sit down conscience-free (well almost) to read all the posts.
Lovely to see you back Sheep - I did wonder where you'd got to. Sorry about all your worries. I do love the way you care so much about your animals. I watched a programme the other evening in which they interviewed someone who was going down the road of factory farming and it was so sad. It was the only way that that farmer could see to remain viable, but it seemed so cruel to the cattle.
My thoughts are particularly with Grandmajet and Harrigran just now who deserve all the ??? we can muster at such a hard time in their lives. And I know there are many others too.
Also, welcome to all the new posters - lovely to hear all about you.
Enjoy your day everyone and I hope you find as much ☀️???? as possible.

Beechnut Wed 21-Apr-21 10:57:08

Marydoll my son in law has a Jostaberry plant. He is hoping to take cuttings this year as he says they are better than gooseberries and makes great currant cake.

CherryCezzy Wed 21-Apr-21 10:50:26

Good morning everyone. It's quite hazy and cloudy today in the Gower. I hope it clears up later.

I slept well and my neighbour was, mostly, quiet ?. Ker-ching! Burnt herself out again I think. It won't last I know that much.
We had a lovely day yesterday but not quite the day we'd planned. We met our friends in the village and the four of us decided that the 1/2 mile radius from the beacon wasn't exactly the best idea, it was a tad busy! We re-rendevoued to a little wood up and away from the village instead ?. My friend, who tends to be organised for a myriad of eventualities had a couple of blankets with her, some snacks (and banana smoothies ?). She knows I have a phobia don't like bananas! She laughed and produced a blackberry one for me ?. Re. my neighbour we ruminated over possible options ? With the current elections coming up we considered whether contacting the current AM might be the way to go ... nah, don't think so. Our MP ?, a lovely lady who has been a help before on a completely different matter ? ... nah, don't think so. Health board? Failure in their duty of care ? ... could have legs. MP to back that ? ... not yet.

Off to Sainsbugs shortly, we're running out of coffee. A must have at the moment!

Good news about our ? and "mascot" Iris grandMattie ?. I hope the antibiotics keep here on track. What an amazing young lady she is ?.
Yesterday, sorry can't remember who it was blush asked what I mean by my WP. To all and anyone of you who are not aware by now I use a different abbreviation to others - it "stands for" Wonderful Partner, that's what he is ?

I want to thank you all, whether it was yesterday or/and today, I'd give each of you individual thank yous if I could recall (there are so many of you wonderful people), for your concerns about me and helpful suggestions to resolve my issue. You are all wonderful people ? ??????????????????

Lins ? ?

To any of you struggling at the moment, be kind and gentle to yourselves ?.
Have a lovely day all of you ❤️

Good morning from a dull, drizzly Black Country. What a contrast from Monday, as I was sitting in the garden basking in the warmth!

No real plans today. MrJan has not long gone to a Hospital appointment ( a trial he is taking part in which was halted due to Covid). Hopefully we are slowly inching to normality. Had a request from DD if I could stay overnight in August whilst they go out to celebrate their wedding anniversary. 19 years this year! Cannot be so long ago!

Wishing you all a good day, with special thoughts to all our missing friends.
