it turns out that the publicity shy couple were so keen on privacy that they didnt even want the £38 million wedding we were forced into paying for them, blimey, they could have said something earlier, like before the public coughed up a fortune for security, A list celeb guests and more melodrama than an x factor sob story, they are now claiming they wanted none of that because " it didnt feel like their day ", but they went through it anyway, bless em. They told Oprah that they actually had a private exchange of vows three days before, just the two of them were present as well as the archbishop of canterbury - perfectly normal behaviour, , now that they have aired all their laundry in public to the whole world, they are off to work on that private life they claim to crave, At least until the next big interview comes up

The reason I said that was that I took her post as being a joke. I’m not tired by thinking that.

Lucca Thu 06-May-21 19:01:01

The telepathy remark was also humorous by the way......or, wait, was it ??

Anniebach Thu 06-May-21 19:02:38

And I posted about Baroness Scotland in an attempt to join in the joke, my mistake , I forgot some are quick to jump and see
something to do a bit of sniping about

Lucca Thu 06-May-21 19:04:07

Annie I apologise. I didn’t realise .

Anniebach Thu 06-May-21 19:09:06

Thank you Lucca I should have put an imoji

Alegrias1 Thu 06-May-21 21:24:49

Anniebach Thu 06-May-21 21:34:22

Apology not needed Alegrias it was my error, reading it I can
see how it was taken as snappy, it really wasn’t , I do have a sense of humour , needs feeding

I'm NEVER EVER going to try to understand Meghan again!
I borrowed a book from the library and my puppy chewed a page, (obviously he wasn't impressed with the subject matter!) The library made me buy a new copy. What a waste of my money!
Anyone want it as a spare Christmas present with half a page missing?

Calistemon Wed 10-Nov-21 12:12:48

I borrowed a book from the library
I make no comment on your choice of reading matter!

???

TerriBull Wed 10-Nov-21 12:24:50

Well that's dogs for you! yours clearly misunderstood a book such as this is produced to feed the mind and not the stomach! I do hope it didn't cause your poor mutt indigestion problems! some might say the content could possibly be hard to swallow shock

Namsnanny Wed 10-Nov-21 12:30:26

. ..^Some say the content could be hard to swallow^....
??? I love the understatement TerriBull

Josianne Wed 10-Nov-21 12:31:29

I wondered why he was so enraged for a few hours afterwards TerriBull! I like your summing up of the situation.
Callistemon, yes I am highly embarrassed but needed a trashy read while we were on holiday! I didn't learn much from it anyway.

TerriBull Wed 10-Nov-21 12:56:31

"I wondered why he was so enraged for a few hours afterwards" He probably thought it lacked substance hmm

Calistemon Wed 10-Nov-21 13:04:07

Poor excuse, Josianne ?

I read Lady in Waiting: My Extraordinary Life in the Shadow of the Crown by Anne Glenconner recently - quite shock in parts!

Namsnanny Wed 10-Nov-21 13:04:26

??

Namsnanny Wed 10-Nov-21 13:05:12

Sorry to TerriBull

Namsnanny Wed 10-Nov-21 13:06:25

That one is on my list Calistemon what a life shes had!

Calistemon Wed 10-Nov-21 13:13:39

She sounds like a nice woman, Namsnanny, but he was, what can I say? Different?

Calistemon Wed 10-Nov-21 13:15:32

I started a college course very many years ago and the dog chewed my text books (borrowed from the library) and my homework.

"The dog ate my homework" is a cliche but it was true in that case.

Josianne Wed 10-Nov-21 13:18:56

I was going to carefully cut the damaged page out, return it and hope no one noticed! The trouble was it is a new book this year and if the next person had reported it I couldn't have blamed it on previous borrowers!

Calistemon Wed 10-Nov-21 13:32:32

You might have got away with it, Josianne as no-one else may ever borrow it!

I am half reading ‘Meghan- A Hollywood Princess’. I say half because I am skipping the boring bits i.e. her work as a humanitarian ambassador.

It’s written by Andrew Morton, of ‘Diana, Her True Story’ fame. It’s been on order for about a year from the library, but I don’t think it was a huge waiting list, think they were waiting to buy it in the bargain bucket.

It finishes before the wedding, so obviously doesn’t cover all the later hoo haa.

The blurb in the front cover finishes with Morton reflects on the impact that she has already had on the rigid traditions of the House of Windsor as well as what the future might hold

Never a truer word…,

You may be interested to know that a thread started this morning referring to Meghan Markle's sudden recall of her involvement with the authors of 'Finding Freedom', after it has been proved she had misled the Court, has been taken down 'because it is not in the spirit of Gransnet'.
This is a serious matter and to be found in all press coverage.
Why is it not to be discussed on Gransnet?

Calistemon Thu 11-Nov-21 13:03:31

Interesting and it is also interesting that threads do not show up as deleted other than in the "I'm On" list

Josianne Thu 11-Nov-21 13:32:30

I had words with GNHQ yesterday about this because when I added the pup misdemeanors this thread appeared in neither Active nor Trending. I asked them to bump it. They said the reason was probably because the last post was back in May. All due to algorithms. Anyway I tried posting a test piece on a different May 2021 thread and whoosh it went straight to the top of the board.
There is something odd about how the Meghan and Harry threads are reported and deleted so quickly to at the slightest thing.
