When I saw ‘Royal Rewilding’ I thought for one brief glorious moment the Royal Family were to be released into the wild.

Phew i am glad to get back on the royal chat thread i feel like you need a suit of armour on the Lillibet thread!

Thank you Whatdayisit
I'm absolutely sick to death that so many posters think that absolutely everything has to be turned into a flipping argument.
'Pick a side! Pick a side!'

I could continue, but I'm not going to be dragged in

Lucca Fri 11-Jun-21 14:36:58

I bet they'd prefer that than having to get dressed up and perform royal duties.

Nettle soup anyone? A beaming Prince Charles gets a lesson in foraging from TV chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall

I was only saying it lightheartedly. It seems the claws are out this week that is all i can say. Anything posted can be taken out of context.

Fanny Cornforth - HM's official birthday tomorrow.

Callistemon Fri 11-Jun-21 15:01:31

Does she get two lots of presents?

Whatdayisit Fri 11-Jun-21 15:29:36

I hope so!

FannyCornforth Fri 11-Jun-21 18:14:55

Ah yes, what a life she has had.
HM realised the privileges, and also the responsibilities.

Blossoming Fri 11-Jun-21 18:21:12

That means Trooping of the Colour, doesn’t it? A grand spectacle. I wonder what changes, if any, will be made this year.

maddyone Fri 11-Jun-21 18:49:43

It’s just been on BBC news that the Queen is going (flying?) down to Cornwall tonight to host the dinner for the G7 delegates and their other halves. Then tomorrow it’s the Trooping of the Colour. She is an amazing lady for her age. My mother is 93 but couldn’t do half the things the Queen does. I know she’s well looked after but she is still remarkable for her age.

FannyCornforth Fri 11-Jun-21 18:58:46

Maddyone she really, really is

Just watched the video of the Queen getting the Prince Phillip Rose I thought the man that planted it looked odd doing it in a suit! What did stand out is how on her own the Queen looks with out her hubby by her side I just think its sad.

The Queen has carried out quite a number of solo engagements since Prince Philip retired, so I expect she has become used to it, but yes, she must miss him.

I’m sure at any big event, such as the reception tonight in Cornwall, she will always have the support of family members.

Whatdayisit Sat 12-Jun-21 10:36:31

HM's cousin, Prince Michael of Kent, is attending The Trooping of the Colour with her today at Windsor.
I think she is remarkable and dedicated and the reason we still have a RF.
I feel Prince William will be the one who is able to muster up the long term support to keep it going. They serve a purpose in my opinion. We were brought up to be anti-monarchy but The Queen has done above and beyond her job.

FannyCornforth Sat 12-Jun-21 10:38:58

The whole of the institution is under a heck of a lot of strain.
William must be dealing with a lot of stress.

maddyone Sat 12-Jun-21 12:06:06

Apologies, it wasn’t a dinner the Queen was hosting, it was, well I’m not sure what it was, but it wasn’t a dinner.

maddyone Sat 12-Jun-21 12:06:58

Yes Calendargirl, it was a reception.

It’s the Duke of Kent who is accompanying the Queen today. He is Colonel of the Scots Guards.

Whatdayisit Sat 12-Jun-21 20:34:21

Sorry Merlotgran.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 20:36:33

Well done to the Duke of Kent, I saw him a while ago and despite his health problems, he was upright, dignified and stalwart and performed his duties as one would expect of a member of the RF.

Callistemon Sat 12-Jun-21 20:39:08

Yes, wasn't Harry supposed to take over from the Duke of Kent?
