Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, but the ground looks wet outside so could be a frost .
Today, a nice day in nothing planned apart from some admin work.
Also a tidy up.
Nice watching GB racing to world champion cyclo cross on TV last night.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from yet another dry, dark morning in E Kent. We are promised sunshine today. I may find time to join DH sitting in the sun this afternoon.
I’m glad for you, Mick that cycling is back on. Shame the Winter Olympics don’t offer any.
GDS woke up at 11 yesterday morning. The capacity of teenagers to sleep is enviable! He says that he is woken most days up by his half-brother getting up, or his mother waking the lad up in their shared room…. Sadly, he can’t stand the boy. Makes life difficult for them.
Hope the Bristol contingent is now lurgy free; it made DD very sad bringing back the total lockdown memories. I must order an afternoon tea for them to cheer them up.
The usual cleaning today, it being Monday. I’ve got some more oranges, which I shall marmalade together with mor cranberries found at the back of the freezer. The mixture is delicious.
Have a good day everyone. Carpe diem. ?????

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is both dark and damp.

Decent day yesterday, enjoyed a walk along our little river in the sunshine then did very little. Always seem to feel weary at the moment.

Not sure what’s on the cards today other than change two beds and give a hand to our friend who is finding her lack of mobility more than frustrating. Have a birthday card to post and suspect Mr C will suggest a wander out for a coffee.

Your marmalade sounds delicious grandmattie. Blended families can be difficult to navigate, your grandson will have appreciated his uninterrupted sleep.

Have the best day you can everyone. Take care.

Good morning everyone from a wet and windy Northampton; undecided whether to go to yoga today, but am up early just in case I decide to. I need to get the bus again this morning as my friend is still waiting for two negative LFTs. All she has had is a mild cold.

Wordle done in 4 today.

Have not had much sleep; woken at 2am by the cats playing with some jewellery I had left on the dressing table! I managed to rescue a necklace and one ear-ring, then spent 10 minutes searching the floor for the other one to no avail. Shall have another look during daylight.

A pleasant day out yesterday with the family to celebrate DD and her husband's birthdays. Managed to do a bit of shopping first; tried on the coat I had seen on line, but it was too small and the next size up would have drowned me. Came away with a dress instead!

Must get some chicken out of the freezer to make a sweet and sour for dinner tonight.

Hope Monday is kind to all.

Ashcombe Mon 31-Jan-22 06:55:31

Good morning, all, from a dry, mild Torbay.

Yesterday was beautifully sunny and brought out walkers and dogs to one of the nearby parks. I find that bare, Winter trees look majestic against the sky. I hope the sun reaches you today,, grandMattie. Yes, teenagers do seem to need more sleep than children. I believe some high schools run a later start to the day in the belief that their pupils are more productive then.

I’m glad you’ve found some cycling on TV, Mick. I wonder what you think of the new Highway Code rules.

This pandemic seems to have affected many in terms of energy levels, cornergran. I hope you feel better as Spring approaches. Your river walk sounded lovely!

Sweet and sour for me today, too, BlueSapphire, using up three bird roast bits from the freezer, left over from our NY Eve dinner.

Thinking of our GN friends in the North and hope everyone is safe from the storms. The poor little boy who perished lived in an area where some of the staff at DD2's school live.

Take care and have a good week. ?????

Gagagran Mon 31-Jan-22 06:56:38

Morning all!

It wasn't until yesterday evening that I realised I had not posted on here yesterday. It was an unexpectedly fraught morning with news of my elder sister being rushed to hospital with very high blood pressure. She lives in sheltered housing on the Isle of Man and the warden had found her and dialled 999. So all my thoughts and concerns were over the Irish Sea and only when news came that she was being monitored on a ward (but was improved), did I relax a bit. By then it was too late for a Morning thread.

DD called in the afternoon after her walk so it all had to be repeated plus hear her news. Not our usual quiet Sunday.

The window cleaner is coming today and hoping for an update from the Isle of Man, otherwise, we may get the quiet day today instead!

Hope today is a good one for us all.sunshine

BlueSapphire: loved the nocturnal feline tale: hope the earring is found! ? ?‍⬛

Beechnut Mon 31-Jan-22 07:24:27

Good morning everyone from Severnside. The sky is getting light and it looks damp outside.

Beautiful photo Ash. I agree about the winter trees.

I shine a torch around the floor BlueSapphire if I drop something tiny.

I have housework to do and a walk to the mail box for me today with mushroom bolognaise for my main meal. Well, I hope that’s what I got out of the freezer as I didn’t have my glasses on ?

Have a good day all without too many worries ?

Jaxjacky Mon 31-Jan-22 07:30:18

Good morning from a dry S Hants, we’ve not had rain for some time.
Pottered in the garden yesterday pruning, a bright but chilly day.
I’ve some lifts to sort for the voluntary job today and a walk later.
Enjoy your day all ??

brook2704 Mon 31-Jan-22 07:42:28

Good morning everyone from Inverness where the wind has dropped a bit but we’ve a had light covering of snow overnight. Brrrr it looks cold out there, that’ll put my gardening plans on hold a bit longer.
Hoping everyone is ok with the storms up here in the north and I’m hoping that sunny weather further south arrives here soon
Hope your sister is doing ok now Gaga
Lovely picture Ash thank you
Yesterday I had a day in and caught up with a few admin jobs and sorting out stuff. Today I should be going to the gym but there’s a possibility the class will be cancelled again as the instructor has covid in the family.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings ?

Pittcity Mon 31-Jan-22 07:45:59

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Another sunny day forecast with a chilly breeze.
Thinking of the Scottish grans in these storms.

A planning day today deciding what bit of the decorating to tackle next.
A walk to the supermarket is needed too.
Love to all ? x

Grandmadinosaur Mon 31-Jan-22 07:46:21

Good morning where it is very windy with a blue sky.

Yesterday was very bright and sunny too. We had coffee at a hotel looking out on the marina in the city centre. It just makes you feel so good seeing bright skies. Then we went for Sunday lunch where I was delighted to find lamb was on the menu. My favourite.
I was also delighted with the result of the tennis in Australia. Rafa is such a brilliant sportsman and well deserved.

Housework today for me and I also have a continuing saga of a dress I am trying to sort out at Next.

I love the sound of the marmalade with cranberry in Grandmattie wish I was close enough to come and buy a jar!

Hope your sister makes progress Gagagran such a worry for you.

Take care everyone.

Beauregard Mon 31-Jan-22 07:47:47

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's still very windy.

We managed to record seven different species of birds in our garden for yesterday's birdwatch. The hour literally flew by!

My DS starts his new job today, so hopefully it will work out well for him.

Our youngest grandson isn't coming to see us, so we have a free day today. I have a new picture to hang, so we might put that up this morning.

Hope Monday turns out well for all.

Nannytopsy Mon 31-Jan-22 07:48:08

Good morning Mick and all his followers. A blue skies morning in Suffolk but very windy and we are due more wind. I would like to finish clearing the last of the raised beds but it depends how cold it is out there. I have plenty of ironing indoors.
We both still have a streaming cold -enough now thank you!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Marydoll Mon 31-Jan-22 07:48:54

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, it's only 3°C. Its still windy, but hasn't deterred the golfer, the man is made! I didn't fall asleep until 3am, now I can hardly keep my eyes open!

Meeting the new in-laws turned out to be a great success, we got on like a house on fire. DS2 hardly said a word the whole time, he was so nervous. When, both sets of parents insisted on paying the bill, we discovered that DS had already, quietly paid it. He has been well brought up!
It was so good to see the restaurant so busy again.
Later I found a text from my lovely son in law, asking if I was out for lunch. He had spotted my distinctive car, parked near the restaurant. Thank goodness I wasn't having a secret liaison with someone!?
When DIL told Dollie, I couldn't find clothes to fit me, she suggested that I should go out in my jammies and buy some new clothes!

Very little planned for today. I may go to morning mass, if I can get going. I have some safeguarding admin to do, but due to the trees coming down, the only way to contact the parish priest, is to go and speak personally. It will take days to restore the phone lines.

Gaga, I hope you have better news of your sister today. For all those in the sick bay, I send my best wishes.
I'm off for my daily fix of Wurdle and will have another look at the number game, Nerdle. Thanks FarNorth, I am hooked!

Alygran Mon 31-Jan-22 07:52:57

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Clear blue sky this morning. It was still dark when I got up and there was a bright star just above where the sun will come up. I think it may be Venus from looking at my sky app.
The roads were pretty quiet yesterday for my return journey and the car was back to its efficient self thank goodness. It was a lovely weekend topped off with brunch with just the 2 DDs.
Today it’s charity group with CAB this morning and food shopping later.
Hope everyone has a good day and all in sick bay are on the mend.

baubles Mon 31-Jan-22 07:52:59

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Sending good wishes for your sister Gagagran

I had a productive day yesterday. The house is shining like a pin as DH was out all day giving me time to whiz about with mops and cloths.

Yesterday after mass our priest asked my neighbour and me if we would resume doing the teas which we happily agreed to although just once a month rather than every week. If any other volunteers come forward it can be more often.

DD’s house continues to be struck by covid, I’d thought the six year old had escaped but no she tested positive on Saturday and now the about to turn three year old has chickenpox as well.

Off to work again, I was mistaken about last week being the final four day week, this is it.

Have the best day possible everyone. ??

Gingster Mon 31-Jan-22 07:54:39

Good morning all and it’s a blustery cold day here in Essex.

We had a nice day yesterday and saw all of my AC and a couple of GC. Popping in and out during the day. So sunny, we were able to sit in the conservatory with no heating on.

I’m off to my Chime group this morning. First one for me this year. Dd is catching the bus into town to do some shopping. I really don’t want her walking around on that foot for too long, so I will try to time it so that I can pick her up. She’s getting fed up and wants to be independent!
She has an appointment Wednesday week to start her new treatment (whatever that will be). Fingers crossed!

Hoping you all have a good day. ?

Grandmajean Mon 31-Jan-22 07:59:14

Wild here in Cheshire. Feels cold too.
Hope you hear better news of your sister today ,Gagagran

Grammaretto Mon 31-Jan-22 08:00:20

Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it is very quiet The lull before the storm?
I hope DD in the Highlands is all right.
I had a some small branches down at the weekend but nothing too serious and DMiL survived her power cut.

The great British Bird count didn't amount to much. Just 2 worried-looking wood pigeons.

I hope your sister is comfortable now Gagagran
Nice photo Ash

I hope the earring turns up Bluesapphire

Take care everyone, especially Mick

Lins1066 Mon 31-Jan-22 08:00:54

Good morning Mick and all from a corner of the S Welsh coast. It is cloudy and dry.
Another day of catching up with some chores and I think I will make some soup.
Good luck to your son starting a new job Beau.
Hope your sister is better soon Gagagran and best wishes to all with illness and worry.
Have a good day everyone.

dragonfly46 Mon 31-Jan-22 08:03:15

Good morning from a sunny Leicestershire.

Just had a lovely weekend with DS and family. It was such a joy to play with the DGC.
A bonus was that he has also taken a lot of the stuff he had left here and is going to come back with his sister and help us clear the house of rubbish.
We have arranged to go and see them again in a couple of weeks.

Got to buy paint today as the bedroom is being painted on Wednesday!

Wishing everyone a good day especially those concerned about family members.

Grandmabatty Mon 31-Jan-22 08:05:34

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° with a cloudy sky. It feels cold but the winds have abated and there's not much sign of damage, thank goodness. I hope your sister makes a full recovery Gagagran.
Yesterday I went out with friends for lunch and what a lunch! I was stuffed and spent the rest of the afternoon lying on the couch. My friends paid for lunch and wouldn't let me so it was a nice treat too.
Today I have a chiropodist appointment and then back home in case dgs1 pops in from playgroup. Apart from that, I'll just potter. Have a good day all.

NannyJan53 Mon 31-Jan-22 08:29:07

Good morning from a windy and rainy Black Country.

I will decide shortly if I go on the Monday morning walk. It is quite blustery out there.

May start going to the gym again. I have not been since Feb 2020!

Have a good day all.

EllanVannin Mon 31-Jan-22 08:32:20

Good Morning All x.
Sounds as though the gale has died down here after last night's blasts. It's dry underfoot so no more rain/ sleet either.
It didn't deter the blackbird ( my alarm ) from singing its little heart out though. The best sound of the day, bless it.

Considering there's only myself here, the place looks as though it's been ransacked grin, never mind I'll soon get it sorted then I have a charity bag to fill. Not much else on the agenda. I look forward to watching the Winter Olympics when they begin.

My word I enjoyed my dinner yesterday, what a tender piece of beef for a change as you can sometimes sole your shoes with some of it. Anyway, a good bit left over so that'll do me today and possibly tomorrow. I'll do an onion gravy and chips . The old Tom smacked his lips when I gave him a few bits with his cat food along with a spoonful of the jellied essence---it went down a treat.

Lovely pic. of the trees Ashcombe. They're just as nice in their " nakedness" as fully dressed.

Hope your sister is alright Gagagran. The IOM has special memories for me as most of my relatives were there and my mum was born in Castletown. Her half-brother died only a couple of years ago before his 100th birthday. I'd got to see him a few times in a nursing home there.

I shall continue reading everyone's posts as I get the crumpets on the go.
Would you believe I have one flower just bloomed on the bottlebrush tree ? It must think it's in Oz---a bit of a difference in the weather though.

Hope everyone's in fine fettle and ready for the day, thoughts to those who aren't. At least we're at the end of the " longest and worst " month, I think it is anyway, so light on the way.

Have a good day all and stay safe well and warm. xx
