Just checked last month's bill with provider who was forced on us due to previous company folding. I had increased my payments from £153 a month (leaving £80+ credit at the end of March) to £245. Found at end of May, when we were away for a week, £40+ debit. Electricity cost in March £70, in May £170! Over £100 up in a low use month! Over the year that's way more than the Govt figure of £998 increase per bill. Anybody else with similar increases?

We use electric and oil no gas. However we are now in credit for electric. DD is £64 pm increased from £57 our latest statement 31 May shows £14 in credit since 1 April. On the other hand oil has doubled in price.

We use only electricity. In fact our bill for 16 April to 15 May (we submit readings monthly) was over £100 lower than the previous month.

Wow. I guess there's something wrong with our smart meter, installed years ago by company before previous. Asked latest supplier for a new one, but installation was cancelled. Tried to phone for another installation date, but website and phone lines down due to heavy demand. Hmm

We just have ordinary meters for daytime and nighttime usage. My husband always calculates what the bill is going to be based on the readings and got the same figure and the meters don’t appear faulty. We are careful with electricity obviously.
