Good morning everyone from the Angus coast - and we have snow. I don't think there's much (I hope) but it's difficult to see through the snowflakes sticking to the windows. I can't remember when the last time was that we had snow, so why oh why did this lot have to fall on the day I have to be down in the town to open the hall for tai chi? Somebody or other's law!
By contrast my friend and I had a lovely outing for lunch yesterday. It turned out to be one of those glorious sunny winter days and we went up country. Just beautiful, a real spirit-lifter.
I have lots to do in town after tai chi this morning - including popping the cards in the post box. Yes, they're written, praise be! Year by year it becomes a shorter job, sadly.
Good to see you're in the south Peli - up here that's anywhere south of Edinburgh 😄
Have a good day everyone x

Good morning all from a chilly Glasgow, where it's -3°C.

I've had little sleep and had to take pain relief during the night. I had forgotten how cold weather always triggers off the pain, caused by old spinal fractures.
I have become a right misery guts these days, time to give myself a very big shake.

Unfortunately, still no heart medication. The surgery mistakenly dispensed the medication, specifically ordered for me, to another patient. 🤬🤬🤬 The gods are agin me!
It's two weeks since I ordered it and I will have none by Sunday.
My anxiety levels are rising.
I have considered changing GPs after 67 years, but have found the good ones locally have closed their doors to new patients and the rest sound as bad as the one I'm in.
My SIL, tried to get me into his new local surgery, but I have the wrong post code, despite only living two miles away. I know one of the partners and two receptionists, which would have made my life so much easier.
Online pharmacy is not an option for me. My conditions and prescriptions are too complicated.

Mr MD, despite his many faults 😉, has been an absolute star!
I decided to buy him a special gift of a watch, which I wanted to get engraved, as a thank you for all he does for me.
He used to collect special edition Swatch watches, but hasn't bought one for years. I've been looking online and was shocked at the prices. However, I had decided on one, when yesterday he said to me, Swatch watches have gone downhill, they are not of the quality, they used to be. 😱
Back to square one! Sigh.....

I'm loving hearing about your comings and goings. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Kalu, I'm trying to work out which TK Maxx you are visiting. I'm afraid to say, I have envy in my heart, because knowing you, you will grab a bargain! 💚 Enjoy your time with DD.

Thoughts with all who are struggling, so many on here.
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.

A beautiful cold and very frosty morning in rural Oxfordshire. The fields outside our garden are white, I look forward to a dog walk shortly.
We have been decorating the kitchen, such a big job, I've painted all the kitchen cupboards too. It will be transformed.
DD1 is popping over mid morning and we will have a walk together, she's gaining strength and doing well, so different from this time last year... thank you NHS.
I hope you all find some sunshine today, and something to make you smile.

Kalu Thu 08-Dec-22 08:11:06

A sigh of relief now that the paper has been signed Wyllow. Now you can move on without that still hanging over your head.
What a rotten time your DS and his family are going through just now baubles. Hope they are on the mend soon. They are lucky to have you helping them out but look after yourself too, something we can forget to do when caring for our loved ones. Your Christmas tree is stunning, a labour of love.

karmalady Thu 08-Dec-22 08:12:06

good morning, s somerset was -4 when I got out of bed this morning and the ground is icy. I am very glad that the builder put non slip flags down at the back of my house and patio, not pretty but they work

I shan`t be going out on icy pavements this week, I turned back lto home ast year as it was too dangerous. Black ice is well hidden, until you land on the ground

Ds and OH are coming here tomorrow for a few days, thankfully they have arranged all jouneys so that I only drive in daylight and thankfully they are travelling by plane from glasgow. They would rather travel by train but have had so many problems wrt the trains this last year. To here then to relatives in london

I shall drive a few journeys from tomorrow but I have a sturdy steady car and am no speed fiend, it will be fine even though on small country lanes

Next week I shall download and print the online form to change doctors to the local surgery. Have not been to a doctor for over 20 years but do feel as though I want to be in walking, not driving, distance now. Just in case

Big organic veg order coming soon, we shall be eating vegan foods for a few days. That is the stressful bit

TaDa!

Good morning from beneath the duvet (to be replaced, not before time, by a warmer one when I pick it up today)
Wonderful Christmas tree Baubles - love it!
Got my Christmas cards written and posted yesterday - hurray- now to receive cards from those I had “culled” and write in haste and guilt. I used up all my over-bought second class stamps from last year and have five or six first class (old style) left which are bound to get used up.
Arts Society this morning which is always a pleasure - only increased by the very excellent locally made GF mince pies and mulled wine we always provide at the Christmas lecture.
Oberammergau and the Passion plays have always fascinated me and I seem to remember -pre-pandemic- that it was a bit of a thing for people to make that trip. I had always understood that the connection with the Plague/Black Death was that the plays started as a thanksgiving for the village being spared. Am I right? I’d love to go but it’s hugely expensive and only being every four (?) years , would clearly involve forward planning!
Keep warm today everybody, stay safe if you go out -winter draws on! Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a cold & frosty Sefton. Thin high cloud with bits of pink. A sunny day is forecast.

A slow day yesterday ended in a fundraising carol singing "event" outside (🥶) a local & very old hostelry. It was very very cold. Hope enough was raised to have made the frostbite worthwhile. My teeth are still chattering.
Zumba in the real world this morning. And a visit to the fish man. Salmon & tomato risotto for tea.
Wishing you all a peaceful day.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 08-Dec-22 08:21:46

Morning Mick and all

Bright blue sky here in S E Essex, heavy frost and -2° I may go to the big Sainsbury’s near Gingster or I may put it off yet again 🤣🤣🤣

DH brought the tree in from the garden after being in a bucket of water for 48 hours, I decorated it yesterday afternoon (will post a photo once I drag my backside out of bed)

I am now approaching what the children have always called mums Christmas crazy I find myself worrying about gifts (mostly bought and wrapped) food (all ordered) then I fo on to the weather (will it stop people arriving) lastly will all the family be well and not have ???????? (Insert any ailment on the planet)

Hey Ho onwards and upwards, compared to what some of our morning friends are struggling with I am fortunate, (((hugs))) to you all.

Have a good Thursday folks 🤶🎄🎁😘

Ashcombe Thu 08-Dec-22 08:22:48

Super photos on here today! Thank you for sharing them, baubles and Pittcity.

monk08 Thu 08-Dec-22 08:28:17

Good morning all from a very frosty Black country-4°.
Think its a day in today I may put the tree up and there's some ironing that needs attention.
That trees amazing baubles.
Best wishes to anyone celebrating, safe travels those on the move and virtual hugs where needed.
Will now open the curtains let some daylight in and catch up with page 2 of everyone's news.
Enjoy Thursday and may you all find some 🌞.

Good morning from a sunny icy Leicestershire. I love mornings like this.

No plans today so will sort out the Christmas presents covering the spare bed.

Hoping everyone has the best day possible. I hope you get your meds Marydoll we are also having problems with supply. Sending you flowers

ShazzaKanazza Thu 08-Dec-22 08:36:03

Good Morning Mick and everyone from a clear bright Hull. It’s not getting above 3 today though it appears there is only frost on the car windscreens.

Grandmadinosaur enjoy your trip to London.

Baubles the tree looks amazing. I’m sorry your son has so much illness with the little family.

Marydoll I really hope you get your medication it’s really worrying. I’m sure your lovely DH deserves his gift.

This morning I’ll go to the gym and this afternoon picking up GS from school. Son will stay and have risotto when he picks him up.
I’m a bit unnerved because I’ve read border force are going on strike on the day we fly on holiday from Manchester. I suppose there is no point worrying over something I’ve no control over.

Hoping day is filled with enjoyable Christmas preparations. Thoughts to those with family worries and illness 🌻🎄

Jaxjacky Thu 08-Dec-22 08:40:53

Indeed a pretty tree baubles and a really clear shot of last nights moon pittycity. Phew Wyllow.

Grammaretto Thu 08-Dec-22 08:40:55

Good frosty morning all from the Scottish Borders. Minus 3° here and I'll need to scrape the windscreen before driving to the dentist and to call on the sick ones. DMiL and now both her DC have covid so I will shop for them and take mail for posting.
I think we'll all be forgiven for late arrivals this year.
I spent ages yesterday trying to get a photo of the mistle thrush on the apple tree. I failed but here's my tree which is my version of a bird feeder.
I love your tree Baubles
I also want BlueBalou to come and clear the decks here grin
Marydoll I hope your medication arrives before Christmas. I was thinking fondly of our last meetup with hopes for another in the new year.
Have a good day everyone.

Nannagarra Thu 08-Dec-22 08:48:07

Another greeting you from Sefton on a cold and frosty morning. 🎼 High cloud with pretty bits of pink has become more apricot.
Good to see you return karmalady and ❤️ the Christmas tree baubles.
Meeting friends this afternoon but doubt if I’ll defrost my car and stand in the cold to fill it with fuel - the bus is an easier and warmer option.
Enjoy your Thursday everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a frosty corner of Somerset.

Yesterdays trip was very enjoyable. We were treated to the sight of every animal species on the drive through the animal park. With plenty of time we were able to enjoy a very tasty hot meal before wandering to see the Koalas (one shares a name with Mr C) and other smaller animals. The Festival of Light features Roald Dahl books and is mesmerising. Not crowded at all yesterday, a really bonus.

Back to routine today, dust to remove and groceries to buy. Lunch at a new to us pub recommended by neighbours. If it’s as good as they say will book a table for our pre Christmas lunch with our granddaughters.

Stay warm everyone. There are a lot of busy good morning-ers, hope as much as possible is enjoyable and Thursday is kind to us all.

BlueSapphire Thu 08-Dec-22 09:01:38

Good morning everyone from a very frosty Northampton, -3° again today. Shall not be going out today, having another day off from activities, so no ballet or tap. I feel it has done me good to not be rushing about everywhere.

Finished putting the decorations up yesterday, and am pleased with how they look. I don't go overboard like I used to, Just the sitting room and front porch, plus a candle-bridge in the front study window. I have lost one set of fairy lights, but they're not essential to the overall effect. I expect they're in a drawer or cupboard somewhere and will turn up unexpectedly.

It was nice to sit with a glass of ginger wine and some Christmas music on and admire my handiwork when I had finished yesterday!

Nothing really planned for today, just a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon. Will need to do a top-up shop tomorrow as I notice a couple of necessary things I ordered are not available.

Try and stay warm today if you can, and have a pleasant Thursday.

cornergran Thu 08-Dec-22 09:03:03

Some images from yesterday. Doesn’t do the reality justice. I blame freezing fingers.

Ziplok Thu 08-Dec-22 09:03:10

Good morning,
It’s a frosty start, showing -1deg C on my phone. Hope the threatened snow holds off, but must go to the supermarket to do the weekly shop. Not a lot else planned other than start trimming up. Hope you all have the best day possible, and to all with illness and/or worries, I hope you feel better today 💐.

aggie Thu 08-Dec-22 09:04:45

Good morning from a chilly Co Armagh, dry and still
I am going out with my Daughter today , I’ve looked out my bobble hat , not pretty , but practical
My sister was at the Oberammergau pageant this year , she and I first heard about it in the Chalet School books . She said it was wonderful!

EkwaNimitee Thu 08-Dec-22 09:13:17

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It was -5C at 8am but has now warmed up to -4C. The blackbird has been prodding the ground with his beak but it must be like poking concrete. I'll go out shortly and fork some worms up, there's plenty of them down below.
I've got a phone consultation with the doc, my kidney infection is not improving and has been dragging on for days.

Marydoll you must have UK's worst surgery, they are unbelievable!

I'm going to have a go at the ironing. I've no idea when the doc will ring so have to be doing something interruptible.
Lovely photos today. And the full moon with Mars was so clear at bed time. Should have taken a photo but too keen to get into my warm bed!

Have a good day all.

BlueSapphire Thu 08-Dec-22 09:17:53

Love decorating my mantle-piece!

GrannySomerset Thu 08-Dec-22 09:18:25

Garden and field beyond are white, but the sky is palest blue and the sun is shining so will need to defrost the car and go and collect prescriptions and do a bit of local shopping. Then present wrapping awaits, something I usually love doing but am singularly unmotivated this year.

Lovely post from Chrissielou, less lovely from Marydoll whose worry and frustration must be off the scale. Count the days, gMattie

ShazzaKanazza Thu 08-Dec-22 09:20:01

The photos on today are fantastic Thankyou all.

GrannyGravy you are a woman after my own heart I was awake at 4 o’clock worrying about those same things.
