USA Bans UK and Ireland from Travelling There.

I hope so, my DH should have been flying out Wednesday for a three week trip across America.☹️

My daughter is getting married two weeks today and the wedding guests from the USA are unable to come.

At the rate things are going, there will be no wedding.

Scentia Your husband was my first thought when I heard today that the UK was to be included in banned flights into the US. He must be gutted - hopefully, he can re-arrange the holiday at a later date, witnout any penalty.

Marydoll when is the wedding? Here's hoping it will all be ok and it will go ahead as planned. We are to attend a wedding last week in April, just hope by then things have calmed down and that it won't be postponed.

My friend has had to postpone her wedding because so many guests are unable to come.

We had an interesting email from Michael O'leary today suggesting we will all get a refund or change of flight if there are cancellations.

The florist told me today that will be no ferries from Holland after Monday, so possibly no fresh flowers for the wedding.

It gets better and better, but we do have contingency plans.

Oh Marydoll just one more worry that you do not need!

If things get even worse could you still have the wedding but have a big “do” for overseas friends and family, perhaps in the summer?

do you have wedding insurance? That should cover these circumstances ,you could go ahead with the ceremony and a family meal and postpone the big party until the all clear is given .

That’s my holiday gone then . But most elements are being very reasonable about giving us our money back and I presume insurance will pay the rest.

Yes paddyanne, and thankfully there is clause for it being cancelled due to a virus.
However, I don't think the insurers envisaged it would be on this scale!

We have a meeting at the venue tomorrow and will take it from there.

I feel so deeply for every one affected by this.
My GD's friend was here today, after a troubled childhood she was booked for a holiday in Ibiza for 3 weeks time with her M"s family,paid for by GD.
Now cancelled, her first holiday in 10 years

She will not be alone but she is so disappointed

Oh Marydoll I do hope you can get something sorted for your DD’s big day.
Curly he is gutted and I am too, as much as I would have missed him, I was looking forward to three weeks of ‘Inside the Ambulance’ and ‘24hrs in A & E’ without him asking if we “HAVE” to watch this rubbish!!

DS has just cancelled their trip to Europe and the UK this Summer. We won't have seen our DGS (or DS and DiL) for 3 years. Boo Hoo!!. Genuinely gutted.

My DH and I have forgone so many holidays, trips, outings and bookings over the years I have lost count.

That feeling of “I should be doing (whatever) now” is quite upsetting, so I have enormous sympathy for all of those who have had to curtail/alter/cancel plans due to this awful virus.

My only hope is that everything gets back to normal soon.

I could indeed be an advisor on “learning to deal with with disappointment” Gramarretto . I’m qualified in anything from husbands and holidays to work and wealth.

My DS1 and family, who were due to leave the US next month, (as in: move back to Europe) have now been told that their flight is cancelled. Fortunately, they can stay on in their flat, and they are trying to get the hauliers to postpone the collection of furniture etc. They also hope to be able to cancel the flat they had provisionally booked to stay in when they get back, until their furniture arrives.

But the biggest problem is their visas/work permits - they expire on 27 April! We are hoping that they get an extension - DS needs to be able to work!

I was so worried they would be standing there with a baby and a small child and no roof over their heads, but they seem to be coping.
