It was the tv reporter who was far too close to Captain's Tom's cake who worried me. He was practically breathing all over it as he showed interested views. They could have just zoomed in on it.
I honestly cannot see the problem here. They were observing the social distancing rules. Col. Tom was in no more danger than if he were to go for a walk in his locality (which he is allowed, if not physically able, to do).
I’m with the support group! They were at pains to point out the merits and benefits of the visit. They also were scrupulously adhering to social distancing, wipe downs etc etc. They pointed out that everyone was well aware that they were interviewing a 100 year old gentleman and had taken every possible precaution.
I think that the TV crews/presenters along with radio presenters have a vital part to play during this crisis/lockdown. They are a great help to some people who are in lockdown on their own, feel good broadcasts help to lift spirits and spread good news.
Good news and light entertainment are hard to find at the moment and if one person's mental health is helped surely it's a good thing.
(I have no words in regards to the so called expert who allegedly has a problem with fidelity and rule abiding)
TBH I had the same thought when I saw this on tv. A documentary has been made but apart from that meeting with MB, everything else in it will be what we've already seen.
It’s not just him but the Captain is in the vulnerable age group and presumably shouldn’t be getting too close to outsiders.
I really thought that we weren’t supposed to visit each other unless it was very necessary. I wouldn’t have thought that meeting MB was vital. TV crews seem to be visiting all over the place.
If it’s OK for him is it OK for me and you? Even if we aren’t on the tele? PS. I don’t want MB but there are family and friends that I would like to entertain.
