Hello all - happy Friday! I wonder if anyone can help me out with a recipe please. It is pie based, contains apples and has a fabulous caramel type sauce poured over which goes nice and soft, not hard. Does anyone know what it is called and if a recipe is about that would be great.

Tasty.co have a recipe for caramel apple pie which sounds amazing and might be what you are looking for.

Could it be this one? It has American measurements but conversions to grams or ounces can be found on Google, and you could make your own pastry if you don't want to use ready-made. It sounds yummy, I feel a baking session coming on!

Here is a recipe for toffee apple cake. It’s made with matzoh meal not flour. I make it every year and it is always well received.

A good pie requires good apples. An apple that is fully ripe with a rich aromatic flavor, solid texture and that is slightly tart is a good starting point. You may have to go to the orchard to find a good one as supermarket apples so often were picked too green and stored too long. A dense apple such as a prairie spy will shrink less than a softer apple and have a better texture when baked. Granny Smith is a good apple for pies but as they are seldom available fully ripe they lack flavor.
