For those who don't read the DM or not seen the news, this is article is among the headlines.
I never eat the stuff but many of you may have some in your fridge.

Sara65 Wed 30-Oct-19 07:28:01

Thankyou for that

Marydoll Wed 30-Oct-19 07:32:53

Thanks for highlighting this Gabriella!

I'm disappointed , that you didn't notice the spelling , diarrhea instead of diarrhoea. grin

Are both acceptable nowadays?

wildswan16 Wed 30-Oct-19 07:37:38

Marydoll acceptable if you're American. I'm not.

Lovetopaint037 Wed 30-Oct-19 08:28:43

Unfortunately I can’t read it.

dragonfly46 Wed 30-Oct-19 08:33:39

Got mine from Tesco so assuming it is okay.

aggie Wed 30-Oct-19 08:38:42

I had some from Lidl yesterday and haven’t had any problems, having said that I haven’t been able to read the message

Marydoll Wed 30-Oct-19 08:58:47

For those who can't read it, have you tried clicking on the image, which will enlarge it?

....or am I teaching my granny to suck eggs? grin

EllanVannin Wed 30-Oct-19 09:03:45

----don't eat ( rubbish ) stuff like that. I'll stick with my home-made pea and ham soup smile

GabriellaG54 Wed 30-Oct-19 09:23:30

Apparently it takes about 48-72 hours for the effects of eating any of the contaminated humous to be felt.
The whole article can be read in MailOnline.

GabriellaG54 Wed 30-Oct-19 09:28:38

It's currently the 7th article down on MailOnline app. You could download, read then remove app if you don't want it permanently on your mobile.

Oh lovely!
Thank you Gabriella

I bought mine in Tesco which isn't on the list and have eaten most of it, so far so good.
But I will warn DIL just in case.

Callistemon Wed 30-Oct-19 09:45:07

I've never thought of houmous as rubbish!
I know that DD makes her own (and very good it is too).

MawB Wed 30-Oct-19 09:45:51

I'm sure it is kindly meant GG but I feel as if grannies are being taught to suck eggs.

MawB Wed 30-Oct-19 09:47:43

Houmous is certainly not rubbish Callistemon unlike the DM
*GG( doesn't eat foreign food though, remember?

annep1 Wed 30-Oct-19 09:56:40

Thank you GabriellaG54. I eat a lot of this from Lidl and Sainsbury. I'll stick to the delicatessen one in future.

Callistemon Wed 30-Oct-19 09:57:17

To be fair, it was EllanVannin who called houmous rubbish, unlike home-made pea and ham soup (which sounds delicious).

annep1 Wed 30-Oct-19 11:40:55

Houmous is certainly not a rubbish food Its full of good ingredients and very tasty.

EllanVannin Wed 30-Oct-19 11:47:43

Yes it was me who said it was rubbish----the name's enough !!

whywhywhy Wed 30-Oct-19 11:48:36

I hate the stuff!

EllanVannin Wed 30-Oct-19 11:50:41

Reminds me of Humus ( earth ) eating soil and its components

Nandalot Wed 30-Oct-19 11:59:04

Just finished eating my Humous wrap whilst reading this. Fortunately from Tesco which is not on the list!

Lisagran Wed 30-Oct-19 14:08:05

Easy houmous recipe - smile -

1x 400g tin of chickpeas, drained
50g tahini paste
1 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp salt
Juice of 1/2 lemon
60 ml water

Place all ingredients in a food mixer and blend until smooth.

Callistemon Wed 30-Oct-19 15:31:33

Thanks Lisagran
How long would that keep in the fridge?
I notice that sjop-bought houmous always has a short use-by date.

Callistemon Wed 30-Oct-19 15:32:00

Shop!!
