The shrub is about 4' high. A lot of the lower leaves have died/fallen off. I've found a lot of these little varmits on the leaves. Any ideas?

Image of the leaves.

There is a beetle that feeds on viburnum leaves. But a quick google indicates it isn't yours . Sorry, not helpful!

That’s the larvae of the viburnum leaf beetle that live on the leaves.
The eggs are laid in the stems in early summer. Sorry I don’t know a cure.

I would say that’s a ladybird larva. Perhaps you have vine weevils... disgusting maggots that live in the roots and destroy everything!

Hopefully I’m posting an image of the beetle and it’s Larvae. You can see the orange rectangle that is the same on yours.

I think it's a ladybird larva too. It's not responsible for the poorly viburnum.

It could be a canker causing the problem.

Thank you everyone.
J52 that's the little critter all right.

I think the Viburnum beetle larva is the smaller one in the picture J52 has shown. The larger one is a ladybird larva which is eating it. There are different ladybird species with different larvae too. I’ve noticed that badly infested Viburnum tinus have a bad smell about them!

Yep, you’re right Shrub the ladybird Larvae is the larger one.

It’s Viburnum Bacterial Blight, dig it out and replace it with Photinia or something similar, there is no cure. I replaced mine last year.

I agree with Davidhs. Mine (2 together) were easily 20 years old and very useful but you must get rid of that blight. First of all I tried cutting off all the affected parts, but when that did no good they just had to go. Sorry!
