Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Spectacular storm around 4am here and workmen turned up at 8. I am a a bit tired.
Playing tennis this morning then home to chill out as it is already hot and humid, due to reach 30 again!
Hope everyone has a good or better day.

Good morning from an overcast north east. Having a restful day after a rather upsetting evening yesterday.
Preparing to visit DIL to celebrate her birthday when I had a phone call from her to say that her car had been involved in an accident outside of school. We live 45 minutes from them so it was a stressful drive and when we got to the village the road was still closed with police cars and blue lights.
All is well, a car spun out of control and took out two others but DIL and GC were still in the playground.
DH told me that I was screaming out and shaking in my sleep, I am not surprised, I was only seconds from having my only GC injured or worse. DIL's car is probably a write off. There is something seriously wrong when people can drive at speed near a village school.

Good morning from the south east. It's muggy, I was awake when it thundered in the night, so loud it felt as if the earth would split apart. It seems there has been rain but not the deluge the village in Cornwall experienced, I felt very sorry for some of the residents there. I believe Charles II coined the phrase 3 hot days and a thunderstorm, it's still the same, although we have had a lot of hot days thus far this summer.

Ironing, shopping, cooking and swimming today.

Mammabear I'm sorry to hear about your health problems.

You will probably get more replies if you start your own thread under Health (?).

GALLSTONES.
Morning all, just wondering what experience anybody else has had with Gallstones.
I developed problems with gallbladder/gallstones at the end of May-the pain is something else- and am awaiting surgery to remove the offending item!. Scan shows it be thickened with multiple stones!
So far I have lost over a stone in weight as my diet is so restricted.
Just wondering if after surgery normal diet can be resumed and how long is the recovery period. Thanks in advance

Morning all! We had a humdinger of a storm in the early hours here on the south coast. The lightning was almost continuous at one point with the thunder joining in. It lasted about 2 hours then I dropped off to sleep again. DH never heard a thing he says!

It feels "claggy" today - heavy and overcast. Hate that - much prefer a bit of freshness.

Bit more of the Tour de France to watch - in the High Alps today then choir tonight which is always a highlight for me. I've just got the bread rolls (thanks Mr Hollywood) out of the oven and they smell soooo good!

Happy days for all our GNs sunshine

Hello everyone! I'm new on site. Wish we'd had some proper rain, so humid yesterday. Promised storm failed to materialize yet in Midlands....

Mapleleaf Wed 19-Jul-17 07:48:17

Good morning, everyone.
It still looks dry outside - I don't think there was a storm through the night. If there was, I slept through it ?
It's very dull with a slight breeze and feels quite muggy. According to the forecast we may get the storms this afternoon. Hope it holds off though as we've got the shed to empty ready for it being dismantled and a new one put up. Luckily it's not a big shed, but still a bit like Doctor Who's tardist ?. Goodness knows what we'll find hidden in its depths!
Hope your holiday weather improves, nankate. The picnic sounded fun, though.
Have a good day, folks.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. We don't look to have had any rain here in South Yorkshire. I was up in the night and it was dry then too, but it is very overcast at the moment. I am not going very far today - I feel rather under the weather. Sorry your outdoor event was a washout, NanKate. Hope for better things for you today (at least the frog will have enjoyed the rain!). Have a good day, folks.

cornergran Wed 19-Jul-17 07:35:50

Morning All. Apparently we had a storm in the night, I slept through it grin. A bit of a different holiday nankate, your picnic sounds good wherever you had it. Overcast this morning, feels fresher although our corner of Somerset is warm enough still. School celebration things today and some granny duties. Hope Wednesday is kind to everyone, be careful if there is torrential rain.

Nana3 Wed 19-Jul-17 07:27:29

Good morning Mick and everyone, no storm here in Lancashire yet but it's on the way apparently. Sorry about your holiday NanKate, hope things improve.
DGD arriving any minute, busy day ahead.
Hope you all have a good day.

kittylester Wed 19-Jul-17 07:21:55

Morning all.

It's a bit fresher in North Leicestershire after an awful lot of rain in rhe middle of the night.

I hope the rain stays away as it's school run day! Also we are going to see DGS1 in a play so lots of opportunities to get wet!

You sound as though you are having an interesting holiday Kate! grin

Enjoy your Wednesdays everyone!

NfkDumpling Wed 19-Jul-17 07:11:34

(so glad the little frog is ok!)

NfkDumpling Wed 19-Jul-17 07:10:46

Morning All

Oh dear*NanKate*. Definitely not the evening you'd hoped. Still, it sounds like a delicious picnic.

The storms didn't get to Norfolk until the early hours of this morning and seemed to have lost a lot if their anger but still rumbled and flashed around all night. It's raining now and very dark and clouding but no rumbles.

A busy day today, visiting a friend in her new home, then a volunteering stint, leaving early to collect DGS from nursery. Gives DH a lovely day in peace - he says.

It is still rumbling out there.

NanKate Wed 19-Jul-17 06:55:26

Good morning Mick and All.

To follow on from my frog story of yesterday, my DH, being an animal lover caught the little frog and deposited him in the garden.

We went to an outdoor production last night, shortly before we arrived the heavens opened with thunder and lightening plus heavy rain. The show was cancelled, we had to drive through floods to get onto the main road. It was not the relaxed evening we were expecting. I suggested we took our picnic to the seafront, so we had our wine, pate, salmon, then fruit tart in the car. grin

This is not the holiday in the New Forest we had expected.
