i did this spectactularly on Christmas Eve and was in A&E till midnight having it wrenched back into place. Broke in two places. pain awful and still have backslab till the 8th. its my dominant hand too. Really fed up as i need excercise, had plans to de clutter and re start my creative textile work. now im limited in what i can wear and do and personal care is difficult too. Any tips >>? worried it might set badly. painkillers still needed. such a stupid thing to do! tripped over hall rug getting small grandsons slippers...!

lovebooks wishing you a good recovery too so that your surgery can go ahead asap.
I did find, after I broke my ankle, that getting around downstairs on a wheeled office chair was very effective, using the other foot to propel myself. It did take the strain off my arms using crutches all the time.
It only works on hard floorsof course.
I managed to get up quite a speed!

thanks again all! Not forgetting Jackson Nanaandgrumpy whose wise advice makes me chuckle! i wont be going commando though!
As to typing one handed its easier on my smartphone but that is playing up and on its way out, so i use the old desktop a lot still.
i'll try again with reading. im feeling the old black dog rearing its head again too which i hope is temporary but all my negative feelings and thoughts are thrown sharply into focus at the moment. i'll have to find creative ways to overcome this and the setback, as others often do far better than i ever could - but i'll certainly try!

Hope you're soon feeling a bit better. I ended up sleeping in separate bedroom as I was so restless. It was painful for a couple of weeks, I did have bad swelling. How about listening books if you don't feel up to reading. Or, a mad idea, sing along to some happy songs, it might cheer you up, or at least make you laugh at yourself. Here are some good ones www.laughteronlineuniversity.com/happy-songs/

Rowantree I do hope you're feeling a bit better now.

Personally I'm 5 weeks and due to have my plaster off next week - yippee! Still painful if I rotate my wrist so hoping for physio; they've been great here when I've had 2 previous fractures so hopeful.

Are you able/supposed to wiggle your fingers now?
