Please don’t panic. Actually, if you have fibro, the hardest part can be just being diagnosed, so things could start feeling better soon. Your GP (unless they are knowledgeable themselves about fibro) will probably refer you to either a rheumatologist or a neurologist. That’s because there still isn’t enough known or agreed about fibro to decide which specialism is more appropriate. Most of the diagnostic criteria are established just through discussion with them, rather than through additional tests. Then you can discuss and explore treatment options that are suitable for you to control your own symptoms with them and/or your GP.
