Daily exercise videos - starting Monday 10am!

Many of you have said you are doing exercise at home and would love some inspiration. We thought it might be fun if we sourced a good exercise video for every weekday (weekends off grin) that we could all take part at the same time. And compare notes here how you found it, how you feel afterwards etc. Maybe make it part of your morning routine? No one will know if you're wearing Lycra or PJs...grin

So, starting from Monday 6th April at 10am - every morning we'll post a new video to our exercise page. If you're up to it and feel you'd safely be able to take part, then please do. And if you have any good suggestions of videos to add to the list please send 'em over to [email protected]

Till Monday!

EDIT: These will be links to existing videos we think will be fun or useful, not our own Gransnet ones - sadly we're not in a position to be filming right now! So there may be a few you've already heard of/tried yourselves (we've made a list from favourites mentioned by you on the forums), although not everyone will have. Be fun to sweat together in any case. grin

Conservatory this morning! Needed more room as DH joined me!!!!!! Never in a million years did I ever think he’d do anything like it. Now resting with tea and a biscuit (just the one!)

Brill can feel the pounds coming on since I’ve been furloughed!

Thank you for the early video today. I have never tried Yoga before, thinking it is not my thing, and I was right! I gave up and did yesterday's BHF one. I do prefer to move about! Glad you felt the benefit NFK.

Missed yesterday, but this morning I was starting to get a rather random heart beat and felt a bit wobbly (just sitting browsing the internet). I used to get this 10/15 years ago when I was stressed looking after elderly parents. Bloody Corvid19 seems to have brought it back. So - I up’d and off’d to the kitchen and switched the video on.

Heart rate up and behaving! It’s now back at resting rate within five minutes. Feeling a bit hot and much, much better!!

I will be back in the kitchen tomorrow morning!

Thank you!! flowers

Hi shysal,

There was slight delay between the page being published on our end and the live version being updated on site, but the new video is live on the page. smile

Thanks for the recommendation - we'll add this to our list!

I was raring to go at 10am, but no new video in evidence on here, so found a fast 1 mile walking workout to Abba music. 15 minutes and I enjoyed it. Will perhaps do the BHF one later today, thank you GN.

Thanks for letting us know how you got on yesterday. Today we have a new video for you...the British Heart Foundation's 10 minute living room workout. smile

Join in here and let us know how you get on. grin

I enjoyed it too. did 30 minutes of yogalates first, so I was glad it wasn’t a yoga session! I’ve done the walking ones - 1, 2 and 3 miles - a few times since lockdown, but prefer a decent soundtrack, so usually mute it and play my own.

Enjoyed that easy to do and easy to follow instructions. Feel energised now and ready for my bike ride (exercise bike). Where shall a cycle today?

shysal Mon 06-Apr-20 10:19:21

I managed well, despite having already walked 5 miles this morning. It was easy to follow, but I did find myself clock watching!
Many thanks GN

Morning all smile

Hope you've got your legwarmers on and plenty of water to hand! Our video to get you started this week is Leslie Sansone's Heart Healthy 1 Mile Walk.

You can find the video, plus some exercise tips to get you started, on our self-isolation and exercise page here.

Good luck and let us know how you get on! grin

Found the link!
It's very hard to see on my phone - almost the same colour as the rest of the script.
Better get the lycra on a draw the curtains. Don't want any passers-by to see me!

oldgoat Mon 06-Apr-20 07:51:39

Sorry, I'm being a bit thick here, but where do I find the link to the exercise video, please?

Jangran99 Sun 05-Apr-20 21:51:44

Thanks Lara, great idea, I'm in ?

LullyDully Sun 05-Apr-20 08:39:12

Will have a go, I'm not very bendy.

SirChenjin Sat 04-Apr-20 23:41:49

Why the link to the video will be on the exercise page that LaraGransnet linked to. You just click on it and watch it on your phone, or iPad or laptop or however you use Gransnet smile

Maggiemaybe Sat 04-Apr-20 23:30:38

As long as they’re less than 25 minutes long and don’t cut into Ken Bruce’s Pop Master, I’ll be there. grin

whywhywhy Sat 04-Apr-20 22:59:02

OK, but how do I view it as I'm not very tech savvy? Thanks

maddyone Sat 04-Apr-20 13:56:19

Brilliant, I’ve been doing the JoeWicks one for seniors, but it’s the same one every day.

Ashcombe Sat 04-Apr-20 10:22:47

Yes, please! My exercise class teacher has sent a video to use at home which is great on days when I can’t go out for a walk.

NfkDumpling Fri 03-Apr-20 22:35:50

I’ll give it a go too - provided DH isn’t in the room!
