We have been looking at grey g plan suites but not sure what colour carpet will go we don't want anything too light or patterned any ideas would be gratefully received

we have grey mid century furniture, have light oak floors , but a teal rug which goes well with the grey.

Without making the room too bedroomy, a lilac/mauve base goes nicely with grey furniture.

I would go for a darker shade of grey carpet and jazz up the room with colourful soft furnishings. Yellow and grey together are popular at the moment but vertually any colour would work

Thanks for replies Nina I thought that colour scheme originally but we found getting a carpet dark enough was the problem I would like a tweedy look carpet one I have now is more or less plain beige a soon shows dirt especially in front of chairs etc

Make sure you take the swatch for the suite outside to look at in the daylight - mine seems to be quite a different colour to what I chose and I had to adjust the rest of the colour scheme accordingly. I said 'I'm sure that's not what I ordered' but it was.

I think mauves/soft greens would look good with grey unless you want something to really lift it - red or purple cushions?

A tweedy carpet is good and doesn't seem to show the bits, ours is quite light with darker flecks.

I have all beige through, bad mistake, shows every mark. Seems so wasteful to replace with a nice flecked one in a deeper shade, but fed up with it.

I just looked on a carpet site and saw tartan carpets - in different colourways. I think that would look really good with the grey suite - I know you said not patterned but take a look.
