Still having the neverending declutter of my house. Can old video tapes be recycled in any way? I suppose I could stick them all together, stick a wooden top on them and make a coffee table but, failing that, do I just throw them in the bin? I HATE throwing things away that will just end up in landfill sites.

Even the charity shops won't take them now, so we took a boxful to the tip. The lads who work there were delighted as I think there's a way to transfer them on to a DVD, but I don't know how it's done.

The tape from inside can be used to keep birds off vegetable plants if wound around sticks. It can also be used as plant ties if loosely wrapped round a stem and stapled together at supports.
The outside boxes can be used as storage of pens/pencls or other small items. The paper cover is usually removeable.

I have a machine that transfers videos to DVD's but I've never worked out how to use it. Most of mine are ones I've recorded myself. I do need to go through them as I did find an old documentary that no one had seen or heard of; also audio tapes of live performances etc.
