Roll-up garage doors

Does anyone have one of these?
We had one installed last year, still under guarantee.
This morning husband had agreed to give friends an early lift to the airport, and the door wouldn't roll up!
Luckily for them he found out in time for them to get a taxi. But it was all very frustrating - the company that installed it couldn't come out today. Not sure when, daren't ask husband as he's still very frustrated. But after a several hours he has managed to open it manually, with a windup handle thing. Not nice being trapped inside.
I wonder if this has happened to anyone else?

We have up and over garage doors and had the odd problem in 20 years but easily sorted. Not had a roll up one.

I thought they were all fitted with a manual release.

Fennel, has the battery in the key fob been checked, that sends the signal to the battery on the actual door, that is the receiver?

Good point Auntieflo. I'll ask him when he has cooled down.

We have had one for 20 years and the only time we have a problem is when the power is off. However, this is simply fixed with the manual release cord.

Thanks for the replies.
I think one part of the explanation is that our back entrance is on a slope. The installers never managed to compensate for that. The door gets stuck now and again.
Still waiting for them - at least we can get in and out now.
