This is the second most profitable crime type in the world, second only to drugs with an annual trade value of around £32 billion.

Most of us are probably not especially aware of any of the signs of this vile trade they may have come across.

If you are interested, Crimestoppers has produced an interactive video called Read the Signs to raise awareness and to encourage members of the public to pass on sny information, however small. Reports are strictly confidential.

Just finished reading an article in the Observer on this very subject where it was suggested that a Anti Slavery Commissioner is needed. Clearly something is needed because the scale of these covert operations seem to be considerable. How sickening it is to read about young girls both home grown and from abroad being trafficked around our country for the purpose of forced prostitution. Much is written about our country's role in the slave trade, deeply regrettable I don't think anyone would argue about that but we can't change it and we weren't around, I just wish to God the powers that be would do more to sort out these awful crimes that are taking place now.

A huge problem is that it is the Border Agency that deals with this issue as if it is an immigration problem, not a crime.

I can't bear to think of the terror these people must go through.
Was reminded of the Morecambe Bay Cockle pickers on the radio the other day.

Also those poor girls in Bradford and Oxford exploited by those dreadful men.

Some human beings seem quick to exploit one another with no regard for their lives.

I also hope in the near future things may change.
