Letters are now going out advising people of winter fuel payments. You shouldn’t need to apply, but if you don’t receive a letter by the end of November and you think you are eligible then chase it up.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme starts on 1st November. It is a weekly payment made when the temperature falls below 0°C for 7 consecutive days. Again, you shouldn’t need to apply as it is paid automatically. If you think you may be eligible and don’t receive it then chase it up. I will post a link to the Cold Weather checker for 2021/2022 when it is available.

Just a reminder to check the right amount has been paid into your bank account as they can and do make mistakes. I had a letter recently telling me I was entitled to a payment of £200 but only got £100 paid into my account. I phoned them to chase it up and so far have had another letter informing me that another £100 is on the way. So will make sure it is!

Me too Tanith.I have the gadget that shows gas consumption for the day next to my bed. The daily reading for the last week or so has almost doubled compared to previous weeks.
it has been very cold mind.
