Buying voluntary NI contributions

After 5 April it will only be possible to purchase contributions for the last six tax years, so act quickly if you are thinking of making up earlier lost years. Apparently the cost of buying a year's contribution is recouped after four years' state pension payments.

Do you know how far back we can purchase?

Apologies GSM. Thank you!

I have just managed to get on to the Government website to see if I needed to purchase anymore credits and was pleasantly surprised that I was fully paid up.

Actually, just checked my record. Only 6 years can be bought now.

Message on one underpaid year:
It’s too late to pay for this year. You can usually only pay for the last 6 years.

I would double check that GagaJo. As I understand it you should at present be able to buy as far back as 2006/7, but as from 6 April it will only be the previous six years.

I got it direct from the HMRC website. I've copied and pasted the quote I've put in.
