Just interested to find out how many people in N Ireland are on GN.

There's a nice little coffee place downstairs in Easons (Donegall Place) opposite Boots and near M&S. It would be just hot drinks and snacks, and is quiet. Not sure if this would suit everyone, and even if Belfast is convenient to all? Open to any further ideas ?

Quiet is good for chatting. So that's one possibility.

I am free most times except Monday and Thursday afternoons.

I am 69, and living in N I and would love to met in Belfast. I will try to fit in with whatever date suits the majority. I have been a member of Gransnet for many years but don’t post much.

I know Belfast seems like an obvious choice but we'd be looking somewhere quiet with no pushing and shoving.

I don't bother with Belfast much so don't know where would be suitable, and if I do go in I catch the airport bus and don't bother with the car.

If most were driving might it be best to pick somewhere in the outskirts. With the motorways and ringroads it's nearly easier to cross the city than go into it..

I'll go anywhere but as an example, there is Corrs Corner just off the M2 at Glengormley with plenty of parking. Hotel and restaurant. They serve all day i.e. morning coffee, lunch. afternoon tea. Plenty of seating. And it would be easy to book a table, or a couple of tables put together, for coffee/scones/whatever.
It happens to be on my side of the city outskirts but I'm just using it as an example. Perhaps that type of place rather than jostling in the city centre.

Just an idea to throw into the ring.

I do get your point Coolgran. A hotel would be more pleasant and Belfast is always going to be busy and possibly noisy. I'm just wondering if some people might be using the train.

Hi I`m in Belfast been on Gransnet for some years but haven`t posted in a while would be up for a meetup Belfast city centre is good for me.

Emma49 Mon 24-Sep-18 10:15:22

The Piano lounge on the first floor of the Europa hotel is spacious and usually quiet. They serve tea/coffee and light lunches. I can find out more if anyone is interested. Handy location for the bus and train station.

annep Mon 24-Sep-18 10:32:54

Emma that sounds good. What do others think? Coolgran?

annep Mon 24-Sep-18 10:36:06

Flapjack I thought private messaging too. But I don't think you can do group messages so I'm not sure how it would work.

Judthepud2 Mon 24-Sep-18 11:58:25

I agree, Europa sounds good being beside train and bus station. City centre is more accessible to most people because of bus and train links. Any other part of the city is going to be awkward for some. Driving in is not a good idea because of horrendous parking charges but plenty of car parks around if you don't mind paying your life savings. Belfast city centre isn't that busy that walking through it is too challenging.

Just told DH that we are planning a meet up. He said to make sure I'm not being groomed grin

So will we go with Europa? Obviously we wont be able to suit everyone with the day or date. I suggest 7 or 14 November. I may be able to do last week October. Perhaps if everyone says which date they prefer and go with the majority. Unless someone can think of a better way.

Allegretto Mon 24-Sep-18 20:36:07

Europa sounds great. I can do either 7 or 14 November.

dani4 Mon 24-Sep-18 22:32:06

14th better for me as baby due 5th. For several reasons DD won't be allowed to go over date.

Coolgran65 Tue 25-Sep-18 01:16:31

Europa sounds good. The airport bus goes right into the Europa bus station.

Ziggy62 Tue 25-Sep-18 12:09:43

annep Thu 27-Sep-18 00:03:31

So shall we make it 14th? I think we have enough replies to make it work. What do you think? What time suits?I'm thinking not too early - or late. 11.30? 12 noon ? Or maybe most people are early birds? Thoughts please?

Brownsgirl Thu 27-Sep-18 08:17:22
