Hi, I'm 42, and have had Fibro for at least 10 years. I am experiencing what I think are the first symptoms of perimenopause.

Is there anyone on here who has been through it with Fibro?

Hi Oldmum.
I went through the menopause at 49 it was a very hard time I was working and running a home. Exhausted all the time.
I felt depressed too. Went on to the pill at 50 a dit helped, I am still on it at the grand old age of 71.

Very interested to see response to this thread as DD1 is in exactly the same position.

Hi , I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 27 years ago . I’m now 58 and menopausal. I’ve had a really tough time , trying to combine full time work with caring for my father .I ended up taking voluntary redundancy and after 5 years of struggling , my brother now cares for my father . I feel many of the menopausal symptoms overlap with the Fibro ones - so double whammy !

I agree, fibromyalgia can complicate the menopause. I managed well enough while taking HRT which I was required to stop pre surgery. I haven’t been able to get a GP to prescribe again in spite of quoting guide,Ines to them. For a while I was flattened by the combined symptoms, work was very difficult. Easier if not easy since retirement. A knowledgeable GP or helpful consultant, maybe a gynaecologist, could be more than useful. Why not start asking the medics now?
