What would you do if we decided not to leave the EU?

Not gloat.

Lose all faith in the political arena, declare my home a free state, issue passports and money and arm myself ! :-)

Well, march definitely. The vote was democratically done, the people spoke - to not go ahead makes the whole democratic process worthless.

Breath a huge sigh of relief and be happy that our economy is saved for future generations

Rush round the garden cheering and have all our neighbour's round for champers!!!

Worry, as I am not sure that staying in after all that has gone on would put us in a very good position with the other countries. Coming out is definitely not my choice but I cannot think how we could have got ourselves into a bigger mess than we are whatever the final outcome.

No -Nanny the vote was won by huge lies being told and was not democratic at all - many people were excluded from voting and papers did not arrive. It was far from democratic

Breathe a sign of relief and hope there's a way to stop, think, regroup and move on.
It's not just Brexit though is it?
Right now we're a broken, divided and disillusioned society with no obvious leader to get a grip and pull things together.

Any pro Brexit views on this?

I think I've been honest in saying it would shatter my belief in the democratic process and despite always voting my whole life I would have to wonder if there is any point going forward.

Id consider myself lucky to be in the later part of my life ( or maybe unlucky as I'd try and emigrate if I had been younger). I think mcmhad it right... society is broken , its a scary thought.

I have, on another thread, outlined the reasons that I voted to leave maisie and I stand by those reasons - just for those who have not read what I said, racism was not the reason - in fact I think that our membership of the EU has fueled racism by leaving us unable to make our own decisions about immigration and raising fear amongst some sections of the population. Fear leads to attack and bigotry.

But - if we did not leave, I would do nothing - firstly because there is nothing I could do; secondly because I do not regard the referendum result as binding for three reasons:

- the appalling way that it was set up with no clear parameters as to necessary turnouts or margins.
- the way the campaigns were conducted - fueling partisan views rather than providing objective sources of information.
- the result was so marginal that I do not see it as binding on a decision so important.

Like N&G, I would see no point in voting ever again. OH would be furious but he'll have to live with it.

I agree that things have gone very bad for many many people in UK. Where for years things improved for people and they could look ahead and think that in a few years they could do XY or Z whether it was a new car, house or a holiday those hopes have been dashed for many. The saying it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive is so true about life - we need aspirations and things to look forward to - not black holes.

Is just successive governments of whatever colour going along the wrong path? - the people themselves are not really to blame as they can only play the cards they are dealt. Does anyone have any theories as to what would improve the country whether or not we leave the EU?

I think that the press has a lot to answer with their inflammatory headlines often giving a distorted view and this has gradually invaded the whole of society.

I would be relieved but as others have said not gloat. It's too early to say whether or not Brexit will actually happen. In case a lot of damage has been done by the whole business and that won't be healed anytime soon.

The Government still seems hell bent on Brexit whatever happens, that is worrying when dogma rules so much over logic.

I d run round the house screaming with relief that I was still part of europe and not a little snooty nosed island that thinks it's the bees knees and yearns to be a colonial power again
I wouldn't gloat to anyone only myself but the relief and excitement would have to be contained

I've been thinking about this ever since we had the referendum. DH was a firm leaver but I dithered and dithered until the last moment then voted Leave.

Like others I was furious with Cameron, Boris and Gove's behaviour post referendum. Theresa May has inherited a poisoned chalice and her Brexit negotiations will now be anyone's guess so....if we have to decide again, I won't vote.

Whatever happens, I'll get up every morning, do the same stuff and life will go on.

I'd be delighted ,we'd still have 500 000 000 potential customers on the continent ,still be able to travel freely ...and stay if we wanted to and and still have all those NHS workers we so desperately need ..whats not to like.The alternative scares me witless

What would be the point in ever voting again? It amazes me how many people dont believe in democracy in this country.Of course we would all have to raid our piggy banks to pay for the new E.U ego project HQ building is being demanded even though the EU building in Luxemburg sits unused.

I must have missed that about a new. EU building - where is it to be?

I would take all my family out to the Greek restaurant. The next weekend, it would be the Italian, then the Austrian.
I would be so relieved that my Spanish and Danish daughters in law still felt welcome, along with my grandson.
