Ask any teacher and they will tell you they work through much of their holiday allocation. I assume it will be the same for anyone who has access to modern technology and can be contacted immediately anywhere in the world. I certainly always had work home from my humble but responsible admin position.

I hope that Theresa May, at least, has a relaxing holiday. Like her, or loath her, she has certainly earned a break. I can never understand how anyone would want to be PM. The perks are good, but I don’t know how they cope with the pressure.

Can’t we pay on results! No pay until they sort out the mess and let us get back to government actually working on something besides Brexit. Two years later we are no further on. Trouble is they all get paid regardless of the mess they put us in, so no motivation to get any results.

Civil Servants do not have the summer recess off. They have an annual leave entitlement to be taken throughout the year.
MPs do not down tools they work in their constituencies and can be recalled to Parliament at any time.

I expect the ministers and their staff will be working behind the scenes even though parliament is not sitting over the summer, but everyone is entitled to some time away from work with their family. There will be no abyss though- that's just media spiteful talk, just a new window of opportunity.
If everyone, especially the losers, had accepted the referendum result and pulled together, we would have been out of the EU months ago and well on our way to new trade deals by now. Remainers always criticise UK Leave MPs and supporters, never the EU, who of course want us to fail badly as a warning to other member states who may be daring to think of leaving. Who wants 'friends' who behave like that!
I bet 4 years ago, the majority of Remainers never even gave much thought about the EU and certainly never woke up each morning jumping out of bed to sing their praises and say how wonderful it was to be a member state and pay £50 million A DAY to have a supposedly 'Free Trade Agreement'!!

Funny that, because 4 years ago polling showed that fewer than 10% of Brits cared enough about the EU to think it particularly important. If you've been stewing over it for 40 years you're definitely in the minority.

I personally think MP’s like any other group of working people should be entitled to time off. Maybe summer recess isn’t the best idea - leave should be staggered.

If it was up to Parliament they would continue sitting. Government want them out of the way so that they are not being over seen. It's ever thus at a time of crisis hence the talk of prologing Parliament. Governments are anti-democratic, Parliament is democratic.
