Diane Abbott would be in charge of home security and immigration.

We can go as far back as you ( or we) like Ginny42.......
Shall we forget Corbyn’s past and his friendship with the IRA,
Or his many Russian tv interviews and his behaviour after the Salisbury poisonings? He has been a useful idiot for many foreign states and groups.
Things being in the past can’t be shoved under the carpet because he wants the keys to number 10.

Ginny42 Tue 05-Nov-19 21:32:41

Lemongrove, just as we know that Johnson et al will 'do all they can implement whatever they can get away with doing. To pretend otherwise is beneath you.'

Ginny42 Tue 05-Nov-19 21:33:19

*'to implement...

lemongrove Tue 05-Nov-19 21:34:17

Johnson has never been a Marxist as far as I am aware.

Hasn't Corbyn admired the Venezuelan leader? - Perhaps that is the type of government we can expect under him. shock

Lemon Grove in regard to your post @21:26 today, as I have stated before anyone can hold whatever political views they have belief in, but it is how they carry those views in their everyday lives that is of the most significance.

By example to the above, Len McCluskey the General Secretary of the Unite Union openly admits that in his political thinking he holds strong Marxist belief.

However, since gaining the secretaryship of Unite he has made that organization the most democratic Union in the Country. In that, every lay member holding any organisation position in the union must stand for election and re-election every two years

McCluskey himself stands for re-election for his position every four years. Therefore democracy and hard-left views very much go hand in hand in Britain today.

However, the same cannot be stated for hard-right groupings. Anyone only has to look at the structure of the Brexit Party to gain witness to that fact.

In that organization, one unelected leader appoints all below him to office, Yes, real democracy in action there and many on this forum seem to very much support that structure, some even "boasting" of paying subscriptions to it.

Urmstongran Tue 05-Nov-19 21:57:34

Diane Abbott always speaks. So. Slowly. And. Precisely.

I think it gives her brain a half chance to catch up.

lemongrove Tue 05-Nov-19 21:58:30

I haven’t seen any support at all for the Brexit Party on any of the political threads. In any case they will sink without trace in the GE.

lemongrove Tue 05-Nov-19 22:00:25

Yes.........Urmston ........I......*do*....know what.......you ...mean .......and ...it...is...*so*......annoying.?

Grandad1943 Tue 05-Nov-19 22:12:04

lemongrove, in regard to your post @21:58 today, I can only assume you undergo "selective loss of memory" when it comes to posts in support of the Brexit party on this forum.

Absolutely laughable. ?

Grandad1943 Tue 05-Nov-19 22:16:42

In addition to my above post Lemon Grove, Urmstongran admitted a few days back that she had made posts in support of the Brexit Party on this forum. Surely you remember them Lemongrove.?

Ok let's look at some of the people who have been Home Secretary. There's Priti Patel-the one who had secret meetings with Israel, who took £5000 a month for 5 hours work, there's Sajid Javid who has links with tax avoidance and who refused to investigate Islamaphobia in the Conservative party. Then there's Theresa May and the Windrush families. Diane Abbott would be a breath of fresh air and might restore some of the ideals we had in the past when this country was more caring and welcoming.

Luckygirl Tue 05-Nov-19 22:27:24

Has this been announced? - do we know that this will be her role?

Having said that I think it is time JC gave her the cold shoulder - she does noting for his credibility.

Grany Tue 05-Nov-19 22:35:55

Lemongrove The Labour polices in their manifesto are regarded mainstream in Scandinavian countries

As regards Diane Abbott

Was a high achiever in her grammar school and went to Cambridge university where she got a BA in history.

Diane has had to suffer every day abusive comments but still works hard in her job and the benefit of her constituents.

Anniebach Tue 05-Nov-19 22:44:52

I cannot think of Diane Abbott as a breath of fresh air

Pantglas2 Tue 05-Nov-19 22:48:02

Monica in South Wales they weigh the vote for labour rather than count it....... a dog wearing a red rosette would get more votes than a Tory!

suziewoozie Tue 05-Nov-19 22:52:42

Priti Patel freelancing in Israel, Liz Truss signing illegal contracts to sell arms to Saudi, Esther McVey lying about benefit claimants - no no let’s just do another DA pile on.

Anniebach Tue 05-Nov-19 22:53:46

Diane Abbott was educated in a grammar school , chose private educate for her son, now she wants rid of both.

newnanny that is a filthy disgusting post - sickening, utterly sickening. Words fail me.

growstuff Tue 05-Nov-19 23:32:14

newnanny That's a disgusting post. Do you actually remember Diane Abbott in 1987? She was very much a bright new MP and her career history shows what she's done. She was a black woman, who was the child of immigrant working class people, who went to Cambridge. I would say that's an achievement in itself.

growstuff Tue 05-Nov-19 23:32:31

Snap suzie

This general election is not just centred on Brexit, it is also very much about personalities rather than parties. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. All of the main parties have rather unpleasant leaders, and this is going to influence voters.

Dottynan Wed 06-Nov-19 06:58:19

Newnanny. 1 - 5 is well known maybe the last sentence should be kept to your own thoughts
