Ah yes, them Muslamics hey and Halal- could you please tell me, ajswan, what this has to do with Brexit? Please.

Don't you know, Kali2. Brexit was going to get rid of all 'those' people with their nasty breeding habits and funny practices.

^Correct but because I find the practice of Halal slaughter barbaric, I would not buy it so chose to serve vegetarian.^

Fish?

BTW I am vegetarian, so nothing you can say about the slaughter of animals for meat is going to shock me.

We've had a whole list of shocking practices attributable to people who are not like us. Well, when I say us, I mean you. I'm Scottish. Got any preconceptions or prejudices you'd like to get off your chest?

Naa, you are alright, I am a fan of Lorraine on TV, oh and Billy Connelly , so I would not want to be a hypocrite. Unless you want to own up to any barbaric or heathen practices that you want to get off your chest and share with us.

Could you please have a look at the title of the thread ajswan- and tell us how your post relates to it? I know threads can wander- but you are way off the scale.

Sorry Kali2, you're quite right. I haven't helped wink

There's no such thing as reverse racism, only racism. It doesn't matter what colour you are, if you are being discriminated against because of your colour, its racism.

Some of my best friends are black is not an excuse for discrimination.

And finally, most Muslims aren't vegetarian.

Correct but because I find the practice of Halal slaughter barbaric, I would not buy it so chose to serve vegetarian. Incidentally why is it okay for this to be allowed. If I took a dog into my back garden and slit its throat and let it bleed to death, it would surely mean a prison sentence but it’s okay for some cultures to do this and don’t get me started on FGM, barbaric !!

We will never get P.R. varian so we have to make the best of what we have. Unless KS ups his game tremendously in the next year or so (or unless Boris scores more own goals) u think the Tories will be a shoo in.

That said, wait until after winter - higher utility bills and union discontent can put a much different slant on things.

We will all just have to wait and see how events unfold I suppose. We have no choice.

varian Thu 14-Oct-21 18:43:46

Ghastly - unless we can rid ourselves of the totally corrupt and incompetent Vote Leave Government.

If the UK was actually a democracy where a government could only govern with the consent of the majority of voters, these liars and chancers supported by a minority of electors could never have inflicted so much damage on our economy, our social cohesion and our standing in the world.

How do we get rid of them?

a) short-term, say from now till Christmas

b) next year

c) and beyond?

a) a bit of a mess
b) better - progress being made on several fronts
c) very good

Mind you, throw a GE in the mix any time before (c) and goodness only knows.

I am no fan of Paisley, but I find myself just not believing anything that Johnson says, he lies frequently and fluently and this is a huge problem for me.

Just a quick reminder that UK has been able to control immigration since 2006

Only they didn’t have a clue how many millions were residing here! It was thought to be around 3.6m but turned out to be double that once questions were asked and resident papers granted. No wonder we didn’t allocate enough doctors, houses, dentists ...

MaizieD Thu 14-Oct-21 18:06:41

This would never stand up in court.

So, you're actually saying, Zoejory, that if Paisley stood in court, under oath in the witness box and repeated what he has said on national TV, that he wouldn't be believed?

Very odd. I believe that in general courts tend to have regard to oral evidence...

It will work out Alegrias for most jobs, but it just so happens that Covid and a general shortage of HGV drivers in most countries has put the kibosh on it.

Just a quick reminder that Europe has covid and a shortage of HGV drivers. No empty shelves in supermarkets and no shortage of fuel at the pumps.

Now, what has the UK got that Europe doesn't have, I wonder...

Kali2 Thu 14-Oct-21 17:53:33

In this particular case Alegrias it’s a very real reason.

“It was quite insulting in a way. It’s like, we’ve kicked you out [but] now we need you for three months and then we’re going to kick you out again.”

The shortage worlwide is real - it has makes it hugely more so in the UK. See above!

Immigrant workers cant be turned on and off as you please, without respect or any decency. There is a shortage in the EU- so those available will stay there, have much better conditions, no hassle with delays and masses of red tape, and nearer to home - yes, so they can get there for Cristmas this time.

It is all quite simple, tragically.

Alegrias1 Thu 14-Oct-21 17:51:53

Perhaps those countries had the good sense not to compound the issue by creating a hostile environment for the workers they need then wondering why they left and won't come back.

lemongrove Thu 14-Oct-21 17:42:54

There’s a real reason for every country to have a shortage of HGV drivers, including the US. Perhaps all those countries could never have anticipated it either.?

Alegrias1 Thu 14-Oct-21 17:32:39

Yes, of course it is.

There will always be a very real reason for every problem that the government could never have anticipated.

There's always a excuse reason for something not working the way they told us it would, isn't there?

lemongrove Thu 14-Oct-21 17:26:14

Not from the EU countries Gill as we know, anybody could come here, with no job to go to or a place to stay.

Kali2 Thu 14-Oct-21 17:20:59

So we need a lot, and they are not a-coming, are they?

East Europeans, btw, are the same race and the same colour as most Brits, for sure.

lemongrove Thu 14-Oct-21 17:20:41

The reason that posters are ‘gone’ is that other posters react so much to their comments in an insulting way, so it’s no wonder.
