Sunak’s mini-shuffle

Today.

He needs to appoint a new chairman. Poison chalice really as apparently whoever is chairman gets the blame for poor showing in the local elections in May.

Word had it that Raab won’t be shoved out. Patiently waiting for results of mega-bullying enquiry.

Suggestion that there is some scandal to come out about Greg Hands.

Lee Anderson

"Mr Anderson raised eyebrows earlier this week when he vowed to boycott England games during Euro 2020 if the team continues to take the knee before kick-off.

“For the first time in my life I will not be watching my beloved England team whilst they are supporting a political movement whose core principles aim to undermine our very way of life,” The Tory MP said."

Most of the article is on his hostility to gypsy communitites.

But I was actually genuinely shocked by this statement on taking the knee, which I regard as a very effective and peaceful way of making a point.

Bit of a shame they got rid of the Department of Energy and Climate Change just a few short years ago isn't it? A machinery of government change doesn't come cheap.

Was that about the same time as they did away with our gas storage facilities?

Talk about rearranging the deckchairs….

Gabrielle56 Wed 08-Feb-23 11:43:36

Yep deckchair arranging classes at 4 pm at #10!!! This bunch of absolute losers need to shuffle off en masse!

Gabrielle56 Wed 08-Feb-23 11:45:54

I used to live near some huge yet brutally attractive gasometers .....then they were gone! Idiots have serious case of short sightedness!! Just what we voted for- a load of cobblers... although where are all the old trades now? Doomed, we're all doomed!!

Deputy Chair, Lee Anderson says:

People using food banks can’t budget : whole meals need only cost 30p

Nurses cannot budget properly if they need to use foodbank

Cheapest tin of beans I could find cost 32p
Average loaf of bread £1.40

Someone needs to challenge him to produce this mythical meal

30p Anderson is a sop to the Brexity northerners!

We northerners didn't all vote brexit. and we had Jake the fake as Party Chairman and in charge of the northern powerhouse. It feels like we live in another country.

Katie59 Wed 08-Feb-23 11:57:29

A shuffle to prove he is actually doing something, we are seeing the death throes of a lame duck government trying to convince itself it can mend the damage done.

Urmstongran Wed 08-Feb-23 12:23:31

“Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle was underwhelming because we know nobody is brave enough to change anything”

Madeline Grant today - The Telegraph.

Can I recommend reading on Greenpeace site about windpower when wind not blowing... I found it interesting
www.greenpeace.org.uk/news/renewables-reliable

How we can use wind power when there’s no wind
Although the wind doesn’t always blow and the sun doesn’t always shine, new technology means we can rely on renewable energy whatever the weather.

Katie59 Wed 08-Feb-23 13:12:36

All the Greenpeace ideas are practical but storing power is very expensive, as a comparison storing coal as has been done for centuries, costs very little.

Using coal as an emergency power source is cheap, using batteries to store power is very expensive and it’s the consumer that is going to pay. Expect power to get more expensive not less.

A mini shuffle out of government would be better

Lizzie44 Wed 08-Feb-23 15:52:56

As said before, it's just rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. But how long before it sinks?

Annewilko Wed 08-Feb-23 18:34:03

Casdon

I hope he moves Suella Braverman, she would be able to do less damage in that role, as her complete empathy bypass wouldn’t matter.

It starts with R and she's organised air transport.

It cost £14 million to set up a new department, rising to £34million. That would buy a few meals for the people who frequent the foodbank I help at!! Absolutely criminal but that is most Tories. Shows they have no idea about the real world. And don't get me started on 30p Lee!!!!

It feels like that in East Anglia. All MP's Tory bar 1. All absent unless they can get their picture in the local paper. You are not alone.

Perhaps he's thinking of the subsidised ones in the House of Commons restaurants Coco51

The cost of setting up a new government department was quoted the other day as about £15 million. How about spending that on the NHS?
