Just keep pulling the thread ...
I’m glad we got out when we did. Thank god we weren’t in the Euro.

It’s hotting up, isn’t it?

Urmstongran Tue 19-Oct-21 16:52:23

It certainly is MerylStreep.

If you want to see a perfect example of the treachery of this unelected, unaccountable gang then you need look no further than the way the Commission and its enabler the ECJ have handled the removal of Eleanor Sharpston, one of the ECJ's own Advocate Generals.

It stinks. But no surprises. The whole enterprise is a sham.

It will make for interesting reading/watching ?? ??

Jaxjacky Tue 19-Oct-21 16:57:50

Just been reading about it on a French Facebook site…

I’ll fetch the popcorn GG13 ...

EU actions such as blocking vaccines, raiding offices and factories, annexing parts of another country, threatening to cut off energy and food, block ports.

EU decisions have become increasingly erratic under UvdL.

Alegrias1 Tue 19-Oct-21 17:04:12

Och I was going to stay away but I can't.

Annexing another country? You're havering.

I think you mean, following the terms of an international treaty that the UK signed up for and now wants to renege on.

Oh, and you can't be on a collision course with something you're already part of. Simple physics. wink

Why am I not surprised or shocked?

Urmstongran Tue 19-Oct-21 17:06:57

Hi Alegrias ?
Glad you’ve joined in. ?
Semantics. Poland is up against Brussels.
I know where I’d place my money.

??you never were !

Hope you saw the hundreds of thousands of supporters of EU on the streets of Poland, they don’t want to go down the divisive and economically disastrous route of the U.K. Some straw clutching going on here.

Urmstongran Tue 19-Oct-21 17:57:42

Nice try vegansrock but I think you’re wrong about the situation. Remember all the UK demonstrations in London over Brexit? This is a big constitutional decision for Poland right now.

MaizieD Tue 19-Oct-21 18:06:27

It's because the Polish government are going down an authoritarian undemocratic route, which is contrary to the conditions for membership of the EU.

Vegansrock is correct, the Polish people don't want to leave the EU. It's their government that is playing silly beggars. They're not bothered about 'the will of the people'.

vegansrock Tue 19-Oct-21 18:20:09

Of course I remember the hundreds of thousands on the streets in London -
I was there ! - just shows how right wing governments are willing to take their countries into economic disaster and social division on the altar of ideological nationalism.

Kandinsky Tue 19-Oct-21 18:26:04

I knew once we left the rest would follow.
So proud of my country for voting to leave. ??
Every leave voter should get a medal!

BlueBelle Tue 19-Oct-21 18:38:56

OMG can I believe what I m reading good grief Some folks are just not worth arguing with ?

GrannyMacawell Tue 19-Oct-21 18:50:37

How do you know the polish people dont want to leave the eu? I am sure assumptions exactly like that were made about the british....david someone?

Katie59 Tue 19-Oct-21 19:43:32

There are pro EU demonstrations all over Poland, indeed the population have a great deal to loose if they were to leave. With the experience the EU has had with the right wing government in UK they are playing it tough from the start.
I wouldn’t be backing the Poles to win this dispute.

I agree 100%.

I'm unsurprised that an authoritarian right wing government is going head to head with a body which thinks the obviously ridiculous idea that financial support should be contingent upon the implementation of the rule of law.

OK.

£50 on Poland still being a member by the time of its next internal elections? (2023 if I'm not mistaken)

vegansrock Tue 19-Oct-21 20:47:22

Over 50million British citizens did not vote to leave so why the pretence that the hard Brexit we've been dragged into has some sort of universal support.

vegansrock Tue 19-Oct-21 20:49:10

Kardinsky I don’t know what sort of medal you’d be giving my now dead mother in law who voted leave to get rid of Nigerians.

Urmstongran Tue 19-Oct-21 20:52:41

Simply because even more people than that voted in the UK to Leave vegansrock.

What, more than 50 million? ?

Urmstongran Tue 19-Oct-21 21:02:07

Ha! You got me Alegrias. I must get up earlier ...

That said, those who didn’t exercise their democratic right to a vote (a) were silly (b) some might have voted Leave - who knows? - it’s not a given they would all have voted Remain and (c) who cares? they didn’t!
