Unless there is a missing apostrophe of course.

Callistemon21 Mon 12-Dec-22 15:00:18

And, speaking for mothers-in-law, yes, it's irritating! smile

Callistemon21 Mon 12-Dec-22 15:01:30

Oh yes, should it be mother's-in-law or mother-in-law's
hmm

Who can be bothered with grammar when they're up to the eyes in Christmas prep. The washing machine has frozen and I've just e-mailed !! instead of 11 and been admonished by D not DD today. I can Grrrrrrrr at her.

Yammy Mon 12-Dec-22 15:15:33

I could add just to annoy people that on some old census daughter or son-in-law has a different meaning . It means stepson or daughter. Grrrrr to the enumerators for that as well.

To join up no doubt with the mother-in-laws, father-in-laws, brother- in-laws etc.

Oh for the good Scots education of the 1950s when grammar was taught so it was understandable and we wrote and spelled correctly by the time we were ten.
