Confessions of a Ducknapper

A few days ago I posted that I had captured and plucked some ducks.

It was, to me, such a zany and unlikely post (after all, I am 73, arthritic and partially sighted) that I assumed no one would believe it.

Unfortunately someone did and was upset. I am sincerely sorry about that.

The reality is I love ducks, used to have Pekings as pets and have brought back from a cold and frozen state, many an abandoned or injured Mallard duckling by cuddling them in my bosom!

I would not hurt any animal, especially a duck and recently had a battle with the landlord here over putting weed netting over a grating to prevent ducklings falling down, a frequent occurrence.

That actually jeopardised my tenancy but I wouldn't give in and eventually I won.

So please be assured that the ducks which live in the wetland close to my home are well taken care of.

The ducklings get food supplements (usually Weetabix) in very cold weather and they grow and come back to me with their own broods year after year.

Sounds like you live in a lovely place with pleasant views of wildlife.
