What on earth is in Dreamies? DS calls them crack cocaine for cats. Our sleepy old boys just go wild at the prospect of a dole out of Dreamies. They literally jump up at my hand as I'm trying to scoop some out of the container.
Can they be good for cats?!

They are treats, Aveline, a bit like chocolate!! grin

I agree - ours seem to jnow when we are within striking distance of the tin and appear from miles away.

I wouldn't compare them with crack cocaine. Not even with cat nip (mine go bonkers over cat nip). But whatever's in them, my cats do love them.

Our cat would eat a bag full in one go if I let him!

I can't get over the state the boys get into when Dreamies are in prospect. They're certainly addicted to them. Scary the change that comes over them. Must Google contents.

I got my cats in China. No Dreamies in China. However, a lovely friend brought a packet back for my rescue cats. I put the sealed packet into a closed cupboard.

Next morning, I came downstairs to an open cupboard and an empty Dreamie packet.

1) How did they know the damn things were in the cupboard?

2) How did they know what Dreamies were?

Of course, they're fat cats now. They like Dreamies but they're complacent and blasé about them.

From Dreamies website.

My cat was an aggressive rescue cat, I have managed to gain her confidence and train her into better habits by using dreamies as a reward. I was even able to brush her today, she is long haired, without having her bite me. Now she just has a few before we go bed and in the morning and she just loves them

My cat doesn’t like dreamies!

We have a ritual in the morning. I groom my cat and then she has six Dreamies as a treat. Woe betide me if I fancy a lay in as she soon reads me the riot act. After that all is fine. The dreamies are on an open, bottom shelf in my bedroom and she has never tried to steal them!

Nandalot Sat 26-Feb-22 15:57:18

Oh, and she got another brand of treats in her Christmas stocking. She seemed excited by them at first and then turned her nose up but the allure of Dreamies has never passed.

I have a friend who cares for street cats in Turkey. They run a trap and neuter programme, and unsurprisingly, some of the cats prove very difficult to lure into the trapping cages. But Dreamies work when all else fails!

My vet has a special jar of Dreamies on his desk to reward cats that have been brave. He acknowledges that they aren't especially good for cats but that they have their place

mokryna Sat 26-Feb-22 16:23:12

Has anyone tasted them?
When I was little my mother had chocolate for dogs, I was/am a chocolate addict that I are them to no ill effect. Fortunately the chocolate to keep you ‘regular’ was on a very high shelf and out of reach.

I have a cat who 's a bit of a wanderer ,I know if I shake the treat tin out the kitchen window she'll appear ...sometimes I get every cat in the street here with her and one in particular who is the fastest cat I've ever seen,he's always first in the queue

My cat doesn't like Dreamies.

My neighbours cats beat up a locked cat flap to get in when I was giving my cats Dreamies

My cat loves cheese flavoured Dreamies, he likes a few on top of some flavours of food.
He’s a character, he sits next to the place he gets fed and just looks at you, open the cupboard for a clean dish and a fork, mash up a sachet and put it down, he has to head bump your hand as you put his dish down, then he either starts to eat it sits down and looks at you again.
Open the cupboard and get the box of Dreamies out, get a few in your hand, another head bump as you sprinkle them on his food, then he eats.
He’s a thoroughly spoilt cat and why not.

Our cat doesn't like Dreamies either, my daughter's cats love them though

HowVeryDareYou Sat 26-Feb-22 20:09:54

My cats doesn't like them, but he loves something similar called Felix Goodie bag

Hetty58 Sat 26-Feb-22 20:14:07

I'd never feed a cat cereal - so mine doesn't know about them. Why give them something so unnatural?

FoghornLeghorn Sun 27-Feb-22 00:48:54

I can’t even get a tablet out of a packet as wherever she is in the house my cat hears the rustling and thinks it’s Dreamies. So we now have a ritual. Every time I take my medication she has to have her Dreamies. ?
