Good article by Rob Marchant, "Young Turks: don't stop now"

Bags, it is an excellent article. We used to go to Turkey frequently, although we haven't visited now for about ten years. It is a lovely country with kind, welcoming people. Over the years we went we noticed that the country was becoming more liberal, particularly the young people, of course. I found it quite interesting to be sitting on the beach, with a young topless Turkish girl on one side - and a girl in a burkha to the other side!

Although we only travelled to touristy places, it was very apparent that huge parts of Turkey are still very backward - I think there will be huge problems in the country if the Prime Minister continues to crack down on secularism as the population is so mixed.

I'm supposed to be visiting Istanbul in October. I love the place and the people.
