Old threads

I have just spent ages reading through pages of posts before I realised that, apart from the last post, the thread was months old. GNHQ Could you not make old threads a different colour or is there a way of spotting these before I start reading.

I seem to remember something like a “zombie” warning?
Does this still exist?
Frustrating for you.

Jalima1108 Mon 23-Jul-18 19:44:52

I tend to look at the last post first then check.

Is it me? Sometimes I read a magazine backwards too.

Doodle Mon 23-Jul-18 19:47:26

Good idea jalima. I always read magazines backwards, never thought of doing it on threads.

Farmor15 Mon 23-Jul-18 19:50:56

I always choose ‘last day’ so only look at threads which have had a recent post. Sometimes I realize the original post was from ages back, but someone has chanced on it and decided to reply. Occasionally this can lead to the revival of an interesting topic. Best to look at date of original post though.

I always read threads and magazines backwards. grin

I wonder if there is treatment available for the likes of us. wink

grin

I don't walk backwards as I would fall over.
I sometimes fall over when walking forwards too.

Another magazine reader here who reads from back to front....we should start a club, thought it was just me!
Although I don’t read threads backwards.
Doodle yes, it’s annoying isn’t it, to find you are reading an old thread, what usually alerts me to that are the posters usernames ( who aren’t on GN now.)

I remember the zombie warning " do you mean to resurrect this thread" or words similar but I haven't seen it for yonks, in fact I had forgotten it.

Jalima1108 Mon 23-Jul-18 22:26:41

My mother had those Doodle
(and I believed her)

I think that most of the old resurrected threads are revived by 'cold callers' ie spam.

Jalima1108 I do exactly the same. Always read a magazine backwards. Are you left handed?

Billybob4491 Tue 24-Jul-18 06:25:44

I read a magazine backwards, and am left handed. Do everything left handed, Set the table cutlery, tie bows etc My long suffering husband is used to it now.

Anniebach Tue 24-Jul-18 08:32:49

I read magazines backwards , am left handed

LauraGransnet (GNHQ) Tue 24-Jul-18 10:10:40

Zombie warnings do still exist on threads, but only appear when a thread is about a year or so old. We can certainly look into it.

JackyB Tue 24-Jul-18 11:44:37

I read magazines backwards because I'm right handed.

When reading a thread the first thing I look at is the date.

Doodle Tue 24-Jul-18 18:50:32

That's what I need to do jacky. I tend to read the OP then get caught up in the posts and don't realise till later on how out of date everything is.

Elegran Tue 24-Jul-18 19:10:18

I am right handed but if I am flicking through a magazine I do it with my left thumb, from the back to the front, because that shows me the righthand pages, which is where they put the most interesting things.
