A citizens assembly? How long would that take to set up?

Lots of sensible well-expressed views made on MN. Many different opinions but there seems to be a better level of debate than on GN.
On the proposed Assembly, I 'd assume it would be an advisory body and not a substitute for parliamentary debate and decisions.

I propose a Granny Assembly. We'd get it sorted in time for tea.... and lay on a delicious home made spread.

I think we'd have to work hard to dispel the myth that everyone over 50 is a right-wing brexit voter!
And however light-hearted comments may be about tea and cakes, they don't do much to get rid of the stereotype!

mcen, I’ve just read a few comments on MN and they seem to think , as I think we do,that it’s a bit late. Maybe a better discussion but I think we on GN can see that it’s a waste of time debating it so are just having a bit a fun.

Given that there are vast numbers of world-wide problems over which we have no control or direct influence, the conclusion would be that there is no point in discussing any of them then!
I was simply pointing out that on MN there was a better level of argument and that there are some issues that deserve being taken seriously.
Wouldn't life be easier if serious issues could all be treated as a bit of fun?

I don't feel qualified to join a serious argument as even brilliant legal brains I know have difficulty understanding what's going on.
