Can anyone recommend some preparation to stop my lipstick " bleeding" into the fine lines around my mouth? I look like Coco the clown after only a short time after applying lipstick - embarrassing!

Max Factor Lipfinity doesn't bleed, in fact you need make up remover to get it off, but it is very drying.

Have you tried lip pencil first to do the outline, then using a brush to apply the lipstick?

The Body Shop used to sell a transparent pen that would draw a barrier round your lips and stop it bleeding. I remember it seemed quite effective but I was too lazy to keep using it. Don't know if it's still available.

Lookfabulousforever do a brilliant lip primer especially designed for older ladies - plus lots of other products aimed especially at us. And they have good videos showing how to use the products

Perhaps I should add that I used this lip primer and one of their lipsticks for my daughter`s wedding and the lipstick stayed in place all day

I stopped wearing lipstick for that very reason until Maybeline 24 Hours was recommended. I apply the colour, blot it and then use the balm. If you keep popping some balm on now and again it lasts ages and never bleeds. You can leave it to dry and not blot it for a more intense colour.smile

I use Urban Decay primer and apply lipstick with a brush.
For everyday I use Clinique chubby sticks

If you use a lip liner first it helps to stop any bleeding.

eddiecat78 is absolutely right. Use LFF's lip primer. Apply to outer edges of lips. Allow to dry before putting on lipstick. You can forget bleeding lipstick. Their eye primer is just as good. No more panda eyes and you just do not have to touch up your eyemakeup at all for the rest of the day.
