What do you all do to get good looking hair? How often do you go to the hairdresser and what do you get done?

tanith Sun 10-Feb-19 17:24:34

I get it cut every two months, wash and condition every 3 days and that's it, friends say my hair looks good/suits me its soft and shiny and I'm happy with it.

Similar to tanith but my hair does not need conditioner. Thankfully I have a lot of it which does help.

Same as tanith really.
No perming ( a killer for hair) though, so if you do have it done ,think about stopping.

See my hairdresser every 6 weeks for cut & colour . In between I wash it weekly but condition daily. Does not necessarily mean it is always good looking hair. Curly hair is naturally dryer than straight and age is not helping that!

tanith Sun 10-Feb-19 18:26:35

PECS I’m intrigued how do you condition without washing your hair?

MissAdventure Sun 10-Feb-19 18:28:50

I don't do anything, which is why it looks bad.

lemongrove Sun 10-Feb-19 18:35:07

That’s because you are busy embracing your inner pensioner MissA grin
I wouldn’t embrace the inner or the outer one.

Mine is thick, and grows like a weed! I did "Brave The Shave" in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support last year, and am tempted to have a very short haircut again.

Absolutely hate going to the hairdressers, really begrudge the time spent, plus really do not enjoy looking at myself in the mirror unless absolutely necessary!

MissAdventure Sun 10-Feb-19 18:38:45

I think my inner pensioner has me in a stranglehold! blush

Cut in a short bob every 6 weeks. Wash in the shower every morning with a shampoo bar. Dry naturally. Job done .

PECS Sun 10-Feb-19 18:47:20

Tanith it gets damp in the shower and then I add Argan or coconut oil to it and let it dry!

GrandmaKT Sun 10-Feb-19 19:02:48

My hair is wavy and has always been prone to frizz, especially in damp conditions (which, let's face it, is 90% of the time in the UK).
About a year ago, my hairdresser started using a product called "Sweet Hair" (I hope I can say this - I have absolutely no connection with the company). It is a Brazilian product and has to be applied in the salon and hair straightened afterwards. It isn't cheap, but it lasts for 3 months and I can honestly say that it has transformed my hair - I can just give it a quick blow dry when I wash it (2 or 3 times a week) and no more frizz!!

Phoenix agree re time/ mirrors. The guy who does my hair has been doing it since I was 40 and he was late 20s! he comes to my home or I go to his flat. He also does DDs hair and I have introduced him to several friends of mine who are now also regular 'home' clients! He is now more like a family friend and did DDs wedding hair and then came to the wedding. He is a v interesting chap.. he has done an Art degree since I first met him & keeps me up to speed with LGBTG politics as well as the best art exhibitions !

I think I should be going to the hairdresser more often then. I hate going and leave it too long and my hair is a complete mess. Ty girls!

M0nica Sun 10-Feb-19 20:32:29

I have a thick dead straight fine hair, which is not thinning (yet). Problem ditto on my face hmm. I am going grey, but still far more dark than grey

I have a cut and blow dry every six weeks, wash and condition at home every two, sometimes, three days and comb a small quantity of argan oil through my hair while wet to keep it smooth and in shape. I colour my hair at home every three or four months

tanith Sun 10-Feb-19 20:38:34

Thanks PECS I get it now ?thanks

I have a short pixie cut, trimmed into shape every 6 to 7 weeks and washed every day or every other day in the shower with a supermarket own brand 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner.
Good looking hair? It's soft, shiny, neat and easily manageable. That'll do for me!

MiniMoon Sun 10-Feb-19 23:59:01

I have a very short pixie cut. I have it trimmed back into shape every 7-8 weeks. I wash it every day in the shower, run my fingers through it and I'm done. If I want to give it texture or spike it up a bit, I have some gum in a pot which I run through and style as required.
