Has anyone had facial thread veins removed? I am considering it as mine are quite bad and basically getting me down.
I’m just wondering how uncomfortable it is and what the healing time is?
Any experience out there?
Thanks

I don't know where you live, or if there are any clinics near you which perform Veinwave treatment but I had this done about 3 years ago and was very happy. Not too painful, just like having pinpricks. I can't remember the exact timeline, but I think I had to wait for about 3 weeks for the scars to heal and then go back for a follow up treatment. If you Google it you might be able to find a clinic near you.

I’m considering this for a few thread veins & broken capillaries on my cheeks so would also welcome gransnetters’ advice. I thought laser was the current treatment- is that the same as vein wave? (Used to be sclerotheapy that was talked about ...)

I have had broken capilliaries on my face since my teens and usually have covered them with thick make up.
However, I found that Rose and Argan oil from SBC takes down the redness (it's actually a water based gel) and have also found that Rosehip oil also works well. They are still there but are a lot, lot fainter. I always wear a moisturiser that includes a sunscreen in it .
Still wear make up when I go out (usually a mineral powder one) but even the stick foundation from Primark works !
Just steer clear from anything that is highly perfumed, or thick and gloopy and it should help

I've had mine done 3 times. First time when I was 37. The first 2 times by laser which worked really well. Felt like mild bee stings. Red and blotchy for a day or two then fine. The last time I had microwave which didn't work well for my skin as I reacted badly and was covered in sores that took a fortnight to heal. The consultant refunded me in full. I need them done again but have found most places now use the microwave style treatment. When I investigated years ago, you could also get injection type treatment but I've never had that and think it's outdated. Apparently, but I haven't looked into this yet, smaller clinics now do laser thread vein removal. I went to Harley Street first time, a private hospital in Fawkham Kent second time and third time was at a private hospital in Chelsfield Kent. That was the occasion I had the bad reaction. So I will be interested to know if any grans know of any clinics in North Kent area that provide laser treatment. In the meantime I use a concealer under my makeup.

I am guessing that what I've called microwave, as the consultant described it to me, is veinwave but I'm not sure.

I had thread veins done by laser about 5 years ago but although the initial results were great, the veins came back after a couple of months. It was only mildly uncomfortable like pin pricks or. The therapist put an anaesthetic cream on the area first and I was given a cooling gel pad to hold over the area for about an hour afterwards. If I had the money I would have a go again but maybe use a different clinic.

I have had vein wave and the pain is bearable for me, you just have to relax. I worked better than laser which I wasted a lot of money on previously.

I had it done many years ago and was very happy with it. I haven't needed it since.

My facial veins did return but only after a few years. I'm 61 now. First time I was 37. Second time was probably 1999 and last time 2004. So I guess around 5 years between. They've been back a long time but I've had far worse health issues to deal with so low priority. They run in my family. One of my sisters has had hers done several times too.

I’m in North Kent and I don’t know of anyone who does this. I’ve got a few thread veins, but never thought of having treatment. Since I had an aggressive skin cancer on my face removed in October leaving me with a five inch scar, I’ve stopped worrying about my looks!

grannytotwins what a dreadful time you've had. It does put things into perspective I know flowers

I have a few but I read on google you can’t get them done on NHS. Mine don’t hurt just very conscious of them, i wear lots of jeans, leggings, and in the summer cotton trousers.

Intense pulsed light (IPL) worked well on my nose & cheeks.
It might need repeating depending how much redness you have.
Each ‘zap’ feels like an elastic band has been pinged on your face. It can get quite hot too.

Really must get mine sorted out. 6 year old GD asked 'Nana, has someone been inking on your face?' shock
