Printers, I wonder why I bother.

I make my cartridges last by printing everything in grayscale (selected from the printer 'Properties'.

The other thing I've done in the past when faced with a problem as described in the OP is to 'fool' the printer by selecting the whole document and changng everything to one colour e.g. dark blue. Voila!

I've had the same HP for about 6 years and although I haven't printed off reams of stuff, it's never let me down. Now, however, it won't print and tells me there's something wrong with the colour cartridge (same age as the black). I took the colour one out, and am using the black on its own, and now it's printing.

We have Canon too, which do seem to be better than some.

Canon and HP have never let me down, but the ink costs are irritating to say the least.

I've had an hp printer for five years and it's never let me down. I always buy hp ink cartridges but shop around to get the cheapest deal (double packs are sometimes very good value).

I suppose it depends how much you need to print. I don't do a lot of printing myself but when the DGDs are let loose on my computer their printing activities do have to be limited to three or four each or my ink supplies would be down to zero within half an hour!

There is something on moneysavingexpert.com about HP printer not accepting Tesco ink cartridge but [being a technophobe] I can't get onto it.

My last printer developed a fault with the print cartridge carriage and it was cheaper to buy a new printer rather than a print carriage.
What ever printer you get then have a wireless one.

I've more or less given up with printers and just use the local library when I want to have something printed. Home printers seem to me to be a complete rip-off, just a way of extracting money from us.

A few years ago I came close to throwing my computer out of the window when it didn't work; I think a lot of the frustration is me being such a technophobe and being annoyed with myself for not knowing how to get things to work. I bought a Ryman printer cartridge last time because it was a lot cheaper and had to do something to my computer to make it 'recognise' it. I know the girl at the Rymans shop seemed slightly loathe to sell it to me [probably knowing that it could cause a problem]. It works ok now but I did have to disable some sort of virus check to get it to work.
