My Hudl wont charge!

Hello all,

I've had my Hudl since last August and now it won't charge sad. When I plug in the charger, usually a red light comes on at the side, but now there's nothing.

It started playing up at the weekend, but I found if I gave it a little gentle wiggle in the socket when I plugged the charger in, it would work, but now nothing.

Having experimented with another cable, it would seem that the problem is with the port, not the cable, or to put it another way, the (ahem) female bit rather than the male. blush

I've spoken to Tesco (waiting for them to get back to me) but just wondered if any other Hudl users had experienced the same problem?

Same prob with kobo reader; had to replace hmm

grannylyn was it replaced free of charge? Not sure what the guarantee (sp?) period is, but as my Hudl is less than a year old, surely it should be covered?

phoenix it's a common problem with the Hudl. It happened with my replacement Hudl, but I was lucky in that I'd got a new cable spare as I'd continued using the old one IYSWIM!
If you look on Amazon/eBay you will find a replacement if you're lucky.

They've stopped making Hudl now because of too many faults I suppose.

The guarantee period for Hudl is 12 months. You should be alright phoenix. Perhaps they will take yours and supply a fully reconditioned one.

(that's what Apple do)

My friend's daughter had five new hudls until they realised that it was a problem with the charger! Have you tried a new charger? It might be an idea.

The port problem is a common one. I nought a new one and fitted it myself with instructions from YouTube! However yours should be covered.

phoenix it's a known fault with Hudls. The Hudle 2 has the charging port in a different place, but it didn't really solve the problem. I still use an original Hudl which needed the port replacing about 8 months after I got it (even though I was very careful with it). I sent it back and it works fine now. Definitely send it back for repair.

BTW the charging port on any Android phone or tablet can also get full of fluff (just like a belly button!) and sometimes cleaning that out can help. It's not hard to do, but you do need patience and relatively good eyesite, so maybe a relative can help if that's not you.

How to clean the charging port on any Android phone or tablet

Method 1

Method 2

Hope this helps.

eyesite? eyesight!

Thanks WKF for reminding me, I haven't checked my belly button for fluff for a while. smile

phoenix that is very bad luck but one should expect it to work longer than 8 months. I would certainly try to get a replacement and if there is no replacement, your money back. Do not let it go if it is a known design fault.

Morning all, thanks for the responses.

GandT might take you a while then! grin

Mine needed a replacement cable, then it was fine. Same symptoms as yours, got mine from a gadget shop selling phone covers etc, dead cheap too. Might be worth trying.
