Did anyone watch the new series called Broken last night? I was watching the Trial and am going to watch Broken on playback just wondered if it was any good.

Ilovecheese Wed 24-May-17 19:34:26

I don't think it was on was it? I also wanted to record it but it didn't happen

BlueBelle Wed 24-May-17 19:46:25

I was going to watch it but didn't see it advertised I thought it was starting yesterday

Pittcity Wed 24-May-17 21:19:57

They didn't show it because of Manchester. It was replaced with David Attenborough, always calming in a time of crisis!
Broken will start next Tuesday. I am looking forward to a bit of Sean Bean.

Bit of a mystery surrounding Broken. Like others, I was surprised to see that it had been replaced by David A, but even more surprised to see a review of it in the newspaper yesterday!

Yes they didn't show it because of events in Manchester.
I am looking forward to seeing Sean Bean too.

Thank you Gransnet. We also thought we had recorded Broken, and found David Attenborough. Tonight we tried iPlayer, but couldn't find it, so I consulted the oracle that is GN. Thank you, so we shall watch it later, maybe . smile

Watched it tonight, had the feeling it was episode 2?

The scenes in the Job Centre, there was quite a bit there that is true, the box ticking aspects with no allowance given for individual circumstances.

On a lighter note, Sean Bean, why isn't his name pronounced either Shawn Bawn, or Seen Been? confused

BlueBelle Wed 31-May-17 08:31:45

I watched it in bed this morning and think I m going to enjoy it Anna Friel and Seen Been are both very good actors so think it has potential Just shows how easy it i to slip the net whilst others play the field so well

Pittcity Wed 31-May-17 08:46:00

I enjoyed it. Dealing with real subjects but it has a lighter feel than other similar dramas.
Looks like the Seen Been character has an interesting back story.

ninathenana Wed 31-May-17 09:29:28

I enjoyed it too. H is a big fan of the Sharp series and has watched every episode at least twice and read all the books. He struggled with Seen Been as a totally different character. Besides it wasn't really H's thing
phoenix he will be Seen Been to me for ever more now grin

BlueBelle Wed 31-May-17 11:35:46

Me too I m afraid Nina can't see him as anything else now

Karanlouise Wed 31-May-17 13:03:55

I enjoyed it. I think the scene at the job centre is very true to life, it feels to me that the benefit system is too rigid and doesn't help people who don't tick the right boxes. Think Anna and Sean have good chemistry and look forward to next week.

Sorry sad

I once ruined a Paul Simon song for a friend by telling him that I had always heard a particular line as "she brushed her hair and farted".blush

Jalima1108 Wed 31-May-17 20:18:40

He's always been Seen Been to us!!

Morgana Wed 31-May-17 22:19:42

Just watched it on catch up and cried! A reminder of how relatively lucky I've been. What a terrible situation to find yourself in.

travelsafar Thu 01-Jun-17 18:39:17

Have watched this on catch up and not sure yet if i like it.

I have a feeling it is going to go somewhere i won't like with the priest and the woman who got the sack( cant remember her name).

I did find the keeping of her mother a bit off putting.

BlueBelle Wed 14-Jun-17 08:12:13

This is turning into a really good drama (for me) great acting and so far a good storyline I thought the scene when Seen Been tackled the elderly priest was excellent and really illustrates the harm done to many men by the church

TerriBull Wed 14-Jun-17 08:25:49

I'm wondering why Father Sean Bean would have wanted to be a priest, given his childhood experiences.

ninathenana Wed 14-Jun-17 13:41:22

Maybe his faith in man took a major blow but not his faith in God TerriBull
I'm not catholic or particularly religious but he could feel that God helped him through it all.

Yes I do know it's not real smile

BlueBelle Wed 21-Jun-17 05:27:02

I m really enjoying this drama, what a suicide eh! Not the easiest way to go

ninathenana Wed 21-Jun-17 10:47:06

Just what I said Bluebelle.
Sneaky of her to tell Father Michael she was going to do it in her bed. She was obviously determined not to be saved.

callgirl1 Wed 21-Jun-17 16:57:13

An excellent drama, but I`m afraid that I wouldn`t be as charitable as Father Michael is towards his mother, the way she treated him when he was a child.

I watched it for the first time this week, what wonderful acting by Sean Bean, the story left me in tears, what an awful situation every way out. I kept thinking of those three chikdren, then told myself off it was acting, but so believable.
