I LOVE that song! Also Downtown by Petula Clark. One makes me think of the other (maybe out around the same time)?
Wish we could go downtown, had quite enough of being cooped up sad

“We All Stand Together”.

Was it by the Frog Chorus?

MissAdventure Thu 16-Apr-20 12:27:28

It was Paul Macartney who did the frog song

MissAdventure Thu 16-Apr-20 12:28:26

Was it the carpenters who did a kind of hush?

Anyway, it's strange that this thread came up, because a strange old song has been on my head for days.

Bimbo, bimbo, where you going to go-e-oh,
Bimbo, bimbo, what you gonna do-e-oh?
Bimbo, bimbo, does your mummy know...
That you're going down the town to meet a little girlio?

I like The Travelling Wilburys and End of the Line- "Well it's alright! Even if you're old and grey."

Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire ; loved this as a fourteen year old when at school and into world affairs.
It was thinking that the end would be at the press of a button but 55 years later that song has got a powerful message it's a virus in fact coronavirus. The words back then have as much meaning today.

It wasn't Petula Clark singing "Bimbo", was it?

Do you also remember her singing "Little Blue Man"

Beechnut Fri 17-Apr-20 12:02:37

Jim Reeves was singing the Bimbo YouTube I watched Auntieflo

Fennel Fri 17-Apr-20 16:32:59

I remember the Bimbo song, there were a lot of similar silly songs in those days.
Like
"Open the door - Richard
Open door and let me in!"
"No way - you might have CV grin"

tidyskatemum Fri 17-Apr-20 18:49:35

I remember singing How much is that Doggie in the Window 27 times running to my daughter when she was a baby to try to get her off to sleep. Did nothing for her but I was ready to slit my wrists.......

Even though it's about a pregnant woman during a nuclear holocaust the one I keep returning to is Breathing by Kate bush. That one and Always look on the bright side of life, Monty Python. Couldn't be 2 more different types of songs, could there?

Grannybags Fri 17-Apr-20 20:56:47
