I am enjoying this series very much. The story centres around a privileged white American family of six who rent their nearby second home to a black single mother and her daughter. The two families‘ lives become intertwined and there are storylines in their present and past lives without too much hopping back and forth in time. It stars Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.

I read the book a couple of years ago and as I inadvertently find myself subscribing to Amazon Prime having forgot to cancel their free time limit offer, I'll keep it going to watch "Little Fires", Glad you've given it the thumbs up Jane, Looking forward to it.

Thanks Jane43. I've seen this on Prime and wondered about it. I'll take a look.

Just finished watching this. Jane43 describes it very well, worth watching. Think they all play a good part but RW is very good.

Is that the sequel to the one about the 'YaYa sisters'? I've forgotten the exact title.

Jane43 Sun 24-May-20 17:14:31

Jane10, no I don’t think so. It is based on a book by Celeste Ng.

J52 Sun 24-May-20 17:35:22

I read the book recently, it’s better than the series, although I’ve enjoyed the series.
I recommend reading the book.

Just checked. 'The divine sisterhood of the YaYas' was the book I meant. The sequel was 'Little altars everywhere'. Good books set in the deep south.

Thanks Jane10 and J52, I’m always on the lookout for good books.

I had just finished the book and wasn't too sure I wanted to watch the dramatisation but apart from some tweaks to the plot I thoroughly enjoyed it.All the cast were excellent.I found it gripping.

Also binge watched this too. Excellent.

I still have a well worn copy of The Divine Sisterhood of the YaYas. A favourite book and also a good film. How did I miss the follow up book?!! Off to do a search for it. ?

And, by the way, there is a new series of Emily in Paris on Netflix. I really would love to see Little Fires Everywhere but I don't have Amazon Prime.

I’ll put this reminder up again.
If you only want the 1 month free from any streaming service you can cancel straight away. You will still get your free month.

Oh! That sounds good MerylStreep. thank you.

I never watch Amazon Prime film normally but restrictions drove me to have a look and I really enjoyed " The Good Liar " and " The Surrogate " Any more you have enjoyed ?

Visgir1 Thu 23-Dec-21 13:35:00

I believe it was on Skye but atm I'm into The Good Doctor on Amazon.
Only 1 series but I splashed out and purchased another, love it so different.
Give it a bash!

If you have a free trial of Now tv, the entertainment package, you will be able to watch it. Just cancel it at the end if the free trial, if you like what’s on offer they will offer you a reduced rate to continue, I am on my second six months at a reduced rate.
