Whilst clapping hands to amuse DGS today, I was reminded of the old rhyme we used to sing to my lads when they were babies. I got as far as:

Clap hands, daddy come home
Bring baby a cake and a bun

Can't remember what comes next. Can anyone help?

Clap hands, Daddy's coming home,
Bring little baby a cake and a plum,
Cake with a cherry, plum with a stone,
All for little baby when her Daddy comes home.

That was the version my Mum sang to us and then to her grandchildren.

gagagran All your rhymes were part of my childhood, my children's and my grandchidren's.

Plus, playing with toes

This little piggy went to market
This little piggy stayed at home
This little piggy ate roast beef
This little had none........
and this little piggy, went wee, wee, wee all the way home
(running hand up child'e body and tickling their tummy)

I do not know the rhyme that led this threat, but I was sung, and sang this one, from Northumberland

Dance to your Daddy, my little laddie
Dance to your Daddy my little man
Dance to your Daddy, sing to your Mammy
Dance to your Daddy my little man

You shall have a fishy on a little dishy
You shall have a fishy when the boat comes in
